Today’s Coffee Prices (23/9): Surging by Three Digits

Coffee prices surged today, rebounding from four consecutive sessions of decline last week. The rally was fueled by adverse weather conditions in Vietnam, a major producer, just ahead of the harvest season.

As of the closing session last night, early this morning on September 23rd (Vietnam time), coffee prices surged significantly. Robusta coffee on the London exchange rose by 133 to 145 USD/ton, marking a 3.33% to 3.51% increase, while Arabica on the New York exchange saw a more modest rise of 0.23% to 0.56%.

What’s Driving the Universal Coffee Price Surge?

Specifically, for the November 2025 reference contract, Robusta prices climbed 145 USD/ton to 4,280 USD/ton, and Arabica for December 2025 delivery increased by 20 USD/ton to 8,100 USD/ton.

The primary catalyst for this sharp rise is the heavy rainfall in Vietnam’s Central Highlands just before the harvest season, which poses a risk of fruit drop and could negatively impact the country’s coffee output.

Today’s coffee prices in the Central Highlands are expected to rebound, starting from the pre-London trading level of 112,000 VND/kg.
