According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first five months of this year, the United States was one of the top exporters of agricultural products to Vietnam, experiencing significant growth.
Specifically, the US is currently the third largest supplier of agro-forestry-aquatic products to Vietnam, with an 8.2% market share and a growth rate of 5.4%.

As of the end of April, Vietnam spent a whopping $203 million on importing fruits and vegetables from the US, reflecting a nearly 60% growth rate, with the US capturing 26% of Vietnam’s imported fruits and vegetables market share.
Additionally, wood and wood products are another significant import from the US. The US is Vietnam’s second largest wood supplier, accounting for 13% of the market share. Compared to the same period last year, the import value of wood and wood products from the US market in the first four months of 2025 increased by 32%.
Soybeans are another commodity that Vietnam has increased its imports of from the US. The US and Brazil are the two leading suppliers to Vietnam, with market shares of 59% and 28%, respectively. In the past four months, the US market has grown by over 19%, while Brazil has decreased by 58%.
Conversely, Vietnam exports the most vegetables and fruits to the Chinese market, accounting for 46.1% of the total export value. The US and South Korea are the next largest export markets for Vietnam’s vegetables and fruits, with export value ratios of 9.1% and 6%, respectively.
For cashew nuts, the US, China, and the Netherlands are Vietnam’s top three consuming markets, with market shares of 21.7%, 19.4%, and 9%, respectively.
The US is also one of the three largest consumers of pepper, along with Germany and India. Compared to the same period last year, the export value of pepper in the first four months of 2025 to the US market increased by 32.4%, the German market by 87.8%, and the Indian market by 84.1%.
