Uniting Two Apartments: Crafting a Spacious 260m² Open-Concept Haven

The Belonging Home is a transformative project that reimagines two adjacent apartments in Hanoi. Once complete, it will embody the homeowners’ vision of a life that is spacious, comfortable, and effortlessly elegant in its simplicity.

The current status of the project involves two adjacent apartments at N03T6 Ngoai Giao Doan, which have been fundamentally completed. The plan to merge these two units to expand the space is definite, but to truly create a spacious and scientifically designed living area, reconfiguring the layout and addressing issues related to proportions and area allocation are crucial.

Moc Xinh has redesigned the space to make it seamless: Removing partition walls to create an open living room and kitchen; reorganizing bedrooms and common areas to balance privacy and connectivity; retaining all loggias and changing the function of some rooms to maintain the structure and rhythm of the project.

The two living rooms and two kitchens, originally back-to-back, have been merged into a single living room, dining area, island counter, and kitchen with double the usable space. Additionally, this area is spacious enough to include a foyer, a display area, and a bar corner connected to the kitchen.

Seamlessly arranged, the functional blocks in the common living space flow smoothly, connecting life experiences and creating memorable moments for family members.

If the common living space is the “bridge,” then the two “ends” are the 5 bedrooms divided into two zones. One is the “private area” for the parents’ and children’s bedrooms, and the other is the “multifunctional area” including a home office for adults, a worship room, a children’s play area, and a guest bedroom.

Encompassing The Belonging Home is a neutral color palette, natural materials, and soft lighting, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. From the overall design to the interior details, the minimalist lines of the Janpandi style are complemented by the rustic simplicity of Wabi Sabi, evoking genuine emotions from the homeowners and harmonizing them with the spatial dimensions.

The highlight of the project lies in its materials: wood, plywood, stone, fabric… The restraint in each rustic detail brings a sense of familiarity, while imported standalone pieces cleverly add convenience and elegance.

For Moc Xinh, The Belonging Home is a clear testament to the empathetic architecture philosophy we pursue: not imposing, but listening; not chasing form, but nurturing the spirit of living. Over time, as space and people harmonize, life and architecture become more sustainable.
