Coca-Cola Vietnam Granted 24 Months to Address Ho Chi Minh City Plant Operations

Coca-Cola Vietnam's factory in Ho Chi Minh City has been granted an additional 24 months of land use from the date of cessation of operations to liquidate the project and address land use rights.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, the Coca-Cola Vietnam Beverage Company Limited’s factory in Linh Xuan Ward, HCMC, is set to expire on September 27th.

Specifically, as per Investment Registration Certificate No. 2130712106, the factory’s operational period spans 30 years, commencing from September 27, 1995.

On February 20, 2025, Coca-Cola Vietnam Beverage Company Limited submitted a commitment not to pursue the operational objectives outlined in Investment Certificate No. 411043000812 (9th amendment, dated December 17, 2014) beyond September 27, 2025.

Under Article 48, Clause 1(c) of the 2020 Law on Investment, investors must complete procedures to terminate the investment project upon its expiration (by September 27, 2025).

Decree No. 102/2024/NĐ-CP issued by the Government stipulates that in cases of land recovery due to investment project termination (as per Article 82, Clause 1(d) of the Land Law), investors may continue using the land for 24 months post-termination to liquidate assets, address land use rights, and manage on-site properties in compliance with legal provisions.

Coca-Cola Factory in Vietnam

Previously, Coca-Cola submitted a proposal to HCMC authorities, requesting a two-year extension from September 27, 2025, to dismantle equipment, relocate production lines, and complete environmental remediation before handing over the cleared site.

As one of Vietnam’s largest foreign direct investors, Coca-Cola operates factories in Hanoi, Da Nang, HCMC, and Tay Ninh. The company collaborates with 1 million retailers nationwide, providing 4,000 direct jobs and approximately 20,000 indirect jobs.
