According to Dao Quang Khai, Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, Bac Ninh is renowned as the “industrial hub” of Northern Vietnam. It serves as a key manufacturing base for numerous global corporations, boasting one of the fastest industrial and urban growth rates in the country. This rapid development has attracted hundreds of thousands of workers from across Vietnam to live and work in the province. The influx of labor has placed significant demands on social welfare, particularly in providing affordable housing for workers and low-income earners.

Under the Prime Minister’s 2021-2030 plan to construct at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial zone workers, Bac Ninh has been tasked with building 147,100 units, accounting for over 14% of the national target. This makes Bac Ninh one of the provinces with the highest social housing quotas in Vietnam.

Mr. Khai stated that Bac Ninh currently has 77 social housing projects underway, covering approximately 280 hectares. Upon completion, these projects are expected to provide around 114,400 housing units.

Since the beginning of 2025, Bac Ninh has completed an additional 2,649 housing units, achieving approximately 80% of its annual target. The province is actively selecting and assigning developers for new projects, aiming to reach the goal of 135,000 units by 2030.

Mr. Khai emphasized that these social housing initiatives demonstrate the province’s commitment to improving the material and spiritual well-being of workers and low-income earners. They play a crucial role in ensuring social security, stabilizing the workforce, and fostering sustainable economic and social development.

“Social housing projects are particularly vital as Bac Ninh strives to achieve its urban development goals and aspires to become a centrally governed city,” Mr. Khai highlighted.
