Mr. Henri Poupart-Laffarge, CEO of Alstom, shared that Alstom (1928) is a global leader in transportation solutions, generating €18.5 billion in revenue in the 2024 fiscal year.
With over 30 years of presence in Vietnam, Alstom has actively contributed to the country’s infrastructure development, including the modernization of railway signaling and telecommunications systems, and the provision of core E&M equipment for Hanoi Metro Line 3 (Nhon-Hanoi Station), which commenced commercial operations in August 2024.

The group expressed its desire to expedite the construction of Hanoi Metro Line 3 – Phase 2, Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 2, and other new lines by 2035, with a vision towards 2045. They also showed interest in participating in the high-speed railway project between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, offering to share high-speed rail technology and collaborate with Vietnamese enterprises to develop the national railway industry.
Welcoming Alstom’s proposals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted that cooperation with France is vital for the implementation of new railway projects in Vietnam. He requested the group to coordinate with the Ministry of Construction and relevant Vietnamese enterprises and units to initiate specific tasks.
Given Alstom’s experience in Hanoi with the urban railway project, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for faster and more effective cooperation in the future. He requested technology transfer, preferential loans, and human resource training in the railway sector.
