Recently, a viral video surfaced on social media depicting three young boys throwing slippers in the hallway of the 5th floor at CT12B Apartment, Kim Văn – Kim Lũ Urban Area (Định Công Ward, Hanoi, Vietnam).

The hallway where the incident occurred
At around 7 PM on September 27th, on the 5th floor of CT12B Apartment, three boys engaged in a slipper-throwing contest. One of the slippers hit the automatic fire sprinkler in the lobby, causing water to gush down the floor. Shortly after, residents noticed the incident, but by then, the water had already affected two elevators, causing them to malfunction.

Ms. T. (mother of one of the boys) shared that after dinner, her 7-year-old son, M., went out to play and throw slippers with his friends. Upon hearing the news, she rushed out to find water flooding the hallway and entering the elevator system.
According to Ms. T., this was an unfortunate and unintended incident. After causing the damage, her son ran to a friend’s house, too scared to return home. “All night, my child was too frightened to sleep. Following the incident, the elevator maintenance team arrived to assess the damage,” Ms. T. stated.

One of the elevators ceased operation after the incident
Following the incident, social media speculated that replacing a single elevator could cost up to 2 billion VND, including dismantling the old one and installing a new one. Many speculated that the compensation amount would not be less than 2 billion VND.
Regarding this, Ms. T. mentioned that the repair unit has not yet provided a specific cost, so her family is still awaiting further information. If the amount is too high, “I don’t know what to do,” she admitted.
A security guard at CT12B Apartment confirmed that the incident damaged two elevators, while the remaining five are still operational. The elevator maintenance team is currently inspecting to determine the exact extent of the damage.
