With the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, logistics experts, and over 100 businesses, the event aimed to discuss and develop a new supply chain solution tailored to the current context.
Experts agree that the collaboration between a leading retailer and a 3PL logistics provider will foster a centralized supply chain, benefiting people, stores, suppliers, consumers, the environment, and the economy. Vietnam has become a hub for multinational corporations across various sectors, with significant investments in modern ports, logistics centers, and trade hubs. However, domestic supply chains still face challenges, requiring strategic partnerships for sustainable improvement and growth.

Mr. Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, speaking at the event
Representing Central Retail Vietnam, Mr. Mike Reid, Senior Director of Supply Chain, emphasized, “The supply chain is the lifeblood of any business. A company may have great products and strong marketing campaigns, but without efficient and reliable delivery to customers, it will fail.” He stressed that small-scale direct deliveries are no longer viable and will continue to hinder Vietnam’s supply chain. In contrast, centralized delivery systems create economies of scale.
According to Mr. Reid, this model offers significant advantages: suppliers reduce delivery costs by using large trucks for single-point deliveries instead of multiple small trips. Larger trucks for combined deliveries to stores reduce traffic congestion and enhance overall operational efficiency. Through collaboration and consolidation, businesses can expand market reach across provinces, ensuring product availability nationwide.

Additionally, centralized systems enhance control and transparency, allowing real-time tracking of inventory by store and day, enabling precise and timely actions to maximize sales. Optimizing logistics through centralization also significantly reduces fuel consumption and emissions, demonstrating operational professionalism. “The supply chain is a silent yet critical driver of national and business strategies—a pillar of prosperity. Conversely, an inefficient supply chain hinders economic growth. We aim for Vietnam’s supply chain to evolve from a bottleneck into a powerful engine for national growth. To achieve this, cooperation and centralization are essential,” Mr. Reid added.
He also highlighted that the event celebrated collaboration, alliances, and centralized delivery models. Central Retail will continue sharing real-world examples of transitioning from short-term procurement contracts to long-term partnerships with key logistics providers like FM Logistic.
