Phuoc Khanh Bridge stands as the final critical component of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway. With an investment of approximately VND 3.5 trillion, this bridge is part of the Eastern North-South Expressway, aiming to complete the entire route.

Spanning nearly 3,200 meters, the bridge features a main span of 300 meters, a width of approximately 22 meters, and six lanes. Phuoc Khanh Bridge crosses the Long Tau River, connecting Can Gio District (Ho Chi Minh City) with Dai Phuoc Commune (Dong Nai Province). It plays a pivotal role in the Eastern North-South Expressway, alleviating traffic on National Highway 1 and the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway.

Notably, the bridge boasts a clearance width of 242 meters and a height of 55 meters—the highest in Vietnam to date—ensuring safe passage for large-capacity vessels.

Furthermore, Phuoc Khanh Bridge is the most complex segment of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway, with each kilometer costing approximately VND 512 billion—the second-highest in the country, following the Hai Phong – Ha Long Expressway at VND 557 billion per kilometer.

In conjunction with Binh Khanh Bridge and the Sac Forest Interchange, scheduled to begin construction next year, Phuoc Khanh Bridge will significantly reduce travel time from Ho Chi Minh City’s center to Can Gio District. This development will eliminate ferry dependence, enabling direct road access from the city to Can Gio for the first time.

This connectivity will greatly benefit projects in Can Gio, notably Vinhomes Green Paradise (Vinhomes Can Gio) by Vingroup, located approximately 35 kilometers from the bridge. Spanning nearly 2,900 hectares with an investment of USD 10 billion, it is Vietnam’s largest coastal urban development.

Beyond major projects, the bridge is also boosting local real estate values. Mr. Tan, a resident near the construction site, noted, “Since the bridge’s construction resumed, land prices in the area have risen, ranging from VND 20 to 30 million per square meter.”

Once a bottleneck for the entire route, the Phuoc Khanh Bridge construction site is now bustling with manpower and machinery to meet deadlines.

The contractor is actively working on the main girders, bridge deck slabs, and cable-stayed system.

Most of the road surface at both ends of the bridge has been paved with concrete. Connecting segments of the expressway have been asphalted, with clear lane markings. Adjacent to Phuoc Khanh Bridge, Binh Khanh Bridge—nearly 2.8 kilometers long, approximately 22 meters wide, and costing VND 2.8 trillion—is nearing completion.

Upon completion of Phuoc Khanh Bridge, both bridges will become Vietnam’s highest cable-stayed bridges, jointly finalizing the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway by 2026.
