Inauguration of the Extended Dien Bien Phu Road to Diem Van Urban Area.
According to the National Road Network Plan and the Provincial Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the coastal road (DT.639) passing through Gia Lai province spans approximately 121 km. It is designed as a Grade III road, accommodating 2 to 4 lanes of traffic.
The coastal road within the province is divided into 7 segments for phased investment. To date, 3 segments—the section from Lai Giang Bridge to Thien Chanh Bridge, the Cat Tien to My Thanh segment, and the Extended Dien Bien Phu Road to Diem Van Urban Area—have been completed, meeting quality standards and adhering to the proposed schedule.
Among these, the Extended Dien Bien Phu Road to Diem Van Urban Area is a critical segment of the coastal road in Gia Lai province. The 1.59 km road starts at the intersection with the new National Highway 19 (at Km6 734) and ends at the intersection with the inner ring road in Diem Van Urban Area (at Km1 592), traversing Quy Nhon Dong Ward and Tuy Phuoc Commune.
With a total investment of 519 billion VND funded by the provincial budget, the road is designed to urban road standards, featuring a design speed of 50 km/h, a road width of 20.5 meters, and a 4-lane layout. It includes comprehensive traffic safety systems, street lighting, and greenery to enhance aesthetic appeal.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized that the completion and operationalization of this project establish a vital transportation route within the external infrastructure system. This supports the socio-economic development of Quy Nhon Dong Ward, Tuy Phuoc Commune, and Gia Lai province as a whole.
The construction of this road facilitates easier travel for residents, enhances goods transportation, promotes tourism development, and progressively realizes the master plan for the construction of Quy Nhon City (former) and its surrounding areas by 2035, with a vision to 2050.
To maximize the investment’s effectiveness, the Standing Vice Chairman urged the project owner, relevant departments, local authorities, and road management units to ensure proper management, maintenance, and utilization of the infrastructure. They must complete investment settlement procedures and adhere to warranty regulations as prescribed by law.
The Department of Construction, related departments, and local authorities are tasked with expeditiously reviewing and updating construction plans and associated schemes. They must implement projects in accordance with the plans to fully leverage the road’s potential, contributing to the realization of Gia Lai province’s goal of becoming a well-developed province in the Central region.
