Phú Quốc to Construct Massive Reservoir for APEC 2027
On October 3, the People’s Committee of An Giang Province approved adjustments to the master plan for Phú Quốc Special Economic Zone until 2040. A key highlight is the addition of the Dương Đông 2 Reservoir project, covering over 96 hectares, a critical infrastructure project to support the 2027 APEC Summit.
The designated area, located in Dương Đông near the existing Dương Đông Reservoir, will see agricultural land, special-use forests, greenery, and water bodies converted into technical infrastructure hubs for the new reservoir.

The Dương Đông 2 Reservoir is expected to hold approximately 4.7 million cubic meters of water, with a daily supply capacity of 36,500 cubic meters. The project aims to be completed by June 2027, in time for the APEC Summit in Vietnam.
The addition of the Dương Đông 2 Reservoir not only meets long-term water demands for domestic and industrial use in Phú Quốc but also serves as a crucial preparation for the major international event, APEC 2027.
An Giang Launches Key Projects for APEC 2027
In preparation for the 2027 APEC Summit, the Prime Minister has tasked An Giang Province with implementing 21 critical infrastructure projects in Phú Quốc, totaling an estimated investment of 137.138 trillion VND. These projects are vital for both the upcoming international event and the long-term sustainable development of the “Pearl Island.”
Among the 21 projects, 10 are public investments worth 20.166 trillion VND, and 11 are PPP and business investment projects valued at 116.972 trillion VND. To date, An Giang has issued all 9 emergency construction orders.
