In Amsterdam, the delegation visited and held discussions with the Amsterdam Smart City Project Management Agency, a leading model in developing innovative and environmentally friendly urban areas. The Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands, Ngo Huong Nam, also attended the meeting.

Ms. Dagmar Keim, Project Director, shared with the delegation the process of forming and operating the smart city model in Amsterdam, from conceptual planning to implementing real-world projects. She emphasized the public-private partnership approach in addressing urban challenges such as housing shortages, clean energy, flooding, and climate change. Additionally, she discussed experiences in training a competent public management team to meet the demands of the digital age.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Council, stated that Da Nang is focusing on promoting science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation to enhance its smart city model. He expressed the city’s desire for Amsterdam to continue sharing its expertise in investment, management, and planning, enabling Da Nang to develop in a modern, sustainable manner while preserving its unique identity.

In the aviation sector, the delegation met with NACO, a leading global airport planning consultancy. Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City, introduced the expansion and upgrade project of Chu Lai International Airport, designated by the government as a 4F-class airport. Da Nang is also exploring the development of urban areas, commercial services, logistics, and high-tech industries around the airport, aiming for a synchronized and efficient growth model.

Da Nang’s leadership hopes NACO will provide consulting solutions for designing an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient airport that meets international standards. The city plans to attract investment for Chu Lai Airport in early 2026 through a public-private partnership (PPP) model and invites NACO to introduce experienced international airport operators to explore cooperation opportunities.

Additionally, the delegation met with Royal Bokalis Westminster N.V., a member of Royal Boskalis N.V., a global leader in maritime infrastructure construction and maintenance. Both parties discussed ongoing projects in Da Nang, including Lien Chieu Port, dredging of the Cua Lo channel (Chu Lai Economic Zone), dredging of the Truong Giang River, and land reclamation developments.

The visit to the Netherlands not only showcased Da Nang as a dynamic city transitioning towards a green and smart future but also opened opportunities to connect with major European corporations in aviation and port infrastructure—key pillars for the city’s sustainable urban development strategy in the coming period.
