VN-Index struggled to breach the 1,350-point mark as trading liquidity remained lackluster, causing the market to lack the necessary momentum. After lunch, the main index hovered in negative territory. However, thanks to a few large-cap stocks, the decline narrowed in the final minutes of the trading session.

VHM was the most significant contributor, adding 1.7 points to the market. GAS, TCB, STB, and HPG also provided support. However, their impact on the VN-Index was limited due to a low margin of increase.

The market witnessed a clear differentiation among stocks. Within the VN30 basket, 15 stocks declined, while only 13 advanced. VCB and FPT were the biggest drags on the index.

VN-Index recovered and closed near the reference level, supported by a few large-cap stocks.

On the HoSE, bears dominated with 184 stocks in the red. Influential sectors such as banking and securities underwent adjustments. SHB, VPB, EIB, MSB, and VIB traded lower. High-liquidity securities stocks like SSI, VND, VCI, ORS, and CTS also witnessed declines.

The real estate group outperformed the broader market, especially in small and medium-sized stocks. LDG hit the daily limit-up. NVL, DXG, DIG, GEX, and KDH advanced. Money continued to flow into small and medium-sized stocks while large-cap stocks experienced differentiation and hesitancy after a strong recovery phase.

Looking at recent history, June has typically been a period of market differentiation. According to experts from An Binh Securities (ABS), this is a pivotal moment, and two key factors will drive the market trend: the outcome of the US-Vietnam trade negotiations and the release of Q2/2025 financial results. If these factors turn out positive, the Vietnamese stock market could embark on a new upward trajectory, supported by both macro and micro factors.

However, the domestic stock market is facing a challenging trading period as money flow and short-term trends approach resistance levels. Large-cap stocks are facing profit-taking pressure at higher price levels, while money flow tends to rotate quickly into small and medium-sized stocks.

At the close, the VN-Index lost 0.86 points (0.06%) to end at 1,346 points. The HNX-Index decreased by 0.04 points (0.02%) to 228.2 points, while the UPCoM-Index increased by 0.44 points (0.45%) to 99.31 points. Trading liquidity remained unchanged from the previous session, with a value of over VND20,000 billion on the HoSE.

Foreign investors net sold over VND316 billion, focusing on FPT, STB, VCI, and VNM.

The Abundance of Liquidity but Why Hasn’t the VN-Index Broken Through Yet?

The Vietnamese stock market has witnessed an impressive influx of funds, with nearly $1 billion flowing in per session recently. This indicates a significant improvement in liquidity compared to the beginning of 2025. However, the VN-Index remains stagnant around the 1,300-point mark. What factors are hindering its upward trajectory, and how should investors navigate this scenario?

Stock Market Shake-up: Navigating the Old Peak

The VN-Index narrowed its upward trajectory and struggled to surpass the peak formed in late May 2025 (1,330-1,350 points). Moreover, trading volume remained below the 20-day average, indicating investor caution. In the upcoming sessions, the index needs to climb above this threshold to sustain its short-term bullish trend. Currently, the MACD indicator is pointing upward, providing a buy signal. If this stance persists in the forthcoming sessions, the positive outlook will be reinforced.
