The Thuong Cat Bridge is strategically located approximately 5-6 km from Thang Long Bridge.

The construction of the Thuong Cat Bridge and its connecting roads is set to commence on October 10th, commemorating the 71st anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (1954-2025). This ambitious project, undertaken by Hanoi City, promises to enhance connectivity and infrastructure.

Spanning a total length of 5.226 km, the bridge includes a main span of 780 meters, approach bridges of 3.125 km, and connecting roads of 1.321 km. With an investment of 7.303 trillion VND from the city’s budget, the bridge is designed to accommodate 8 lanes—6 for motorized vehicles and 2 for non-motorized traffic—and boasts a main bridge width of 35 meters.

The bridge will connect Bac Tu Liem District with the former Dong Anh District, now Thien Loc Commune.

Approved by Hanoi City, the project begins at the intersection with Ky Vu Road in Thuong Cat Ward (formerly Bac Tu Liem District) and concludes at the intersection with Road 23B in Dai Mach Commune, Dong Anh District (now Thien Loc Commune). This initiative aims to ensure seamless integration with the Ring Road 3.5, facilitating north-south connectivity across the Red River.

The Thuong Cat Bridge will play a pivotal role in completing the Ring Road 3.5, providing additional western and southwestern routes between districts north and south of the Red River. It will also integrate with key arterial roads, bolstering the capital’s transportation network.

Ring Road 3.5, leading to the Thuong Cat Bridge, intersects with Tay Thang Long Road and runs parallel to Road 70.

Furthermore, the bridge is expected to stimulate economic growth and elevate property values in surrounding areas. It will foster socio-economic development and strengthen security and defense across districts such as Bac Tu Liem, Dong Anh, Me Linh, Thanh Tri, Ha Dong, Hoai Duc, and other northern regions of the Red River, benefiting Hanoi as a whole.

The Thuong Cat Bridge is one of ten bridges planned to cross the Red River under Hanoi’s 2015-2030 Transportation Plan.

The remaining nine bridges include: Hong Ha, Me So (Ring Road 4), the new Thang Long (Ring Road 3), Tu Lien, Vinh Tuy Phase 2, Ngoc Hoi (Ring Road 3.5), Tran Hung Dao Tunnel/Bridge, Phu Xuyen Bridge, and Van Phuc Bridge (North-South Axis connecting to Vinh Phuc Province).
