Vietnam Welcomes Over 15 Million International Visitors in First 9 Months: Which Country Tops the List?

China and South Korea remain Vietnam's top tourism source markets, accounting for nearly half of all international visitor arrivals.

On October 6th, according to data from the General Statistics Office, Vietnam welcomed nearly 1.52 million international visitors in September 2025, marking a 19.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In the first nine months of 2025, Vietnam has hosted 15.4 million international tourists, a 21.5% rise year-on-year. Notably, September alone saw almost 1.52 million international arrivals, up 19.5% from September 2024.

China and South Korea remain Vietnam’s top source markets, contributing nearly half of all international visitors. China leads with 3.9 million arrivals (25.2%), followed by South Korea with 3.2 million (21%).

Other key markets include Taiwan (China) with 926,000 visitors (3rd), the United States with 623,000 (4th), and Japan with 618,000 (5th).

Rounding out the top 10 are India (505,000), Cambodia (490,000), Russia (435,000), Malaysia (405,000), and Australia (401,000). India has climbed to 6th place, while Russia remains Europe’s fastest-growing market, surging by over 173%.

International visitor growth to Vietnam is driven by strong increases from Europe (up 34.9%), Asia (up 20.9%), Australia (up 13.7%), the Americas (up 8.5%), and Africa (up 4.7%).

Key Asian markets have shown remarkable growth, with China up nearly 44% and India surpassing 42%.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has successfully launched promotional campaigns in countries such as Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, and South Korea.

Coupled with relaxed visa policies, these efforts are expected to drive continued growth in international arrivals, with Vietnam aiming to welcome approximately 25 million international visitors by the end of 2025.
