A landmark project symbolizing love for Hanoi through the creation of public, cultural, and creative spaces, while also serving as a new growth engine for the capital in its era of transformation.
From Love for Hanoi to a New Era of Growth
This year’s Bui Xuan Phai Awards announced 11 official nominees across 4 categories, showcasing a diverse array of creative initiatives and efforts aimed at preserving heritage, fostering urban innovation, and promoting cultural outreach. Among these, the “Acts of Love for Hanoi” category honors activities, initiatives, or decisions that significantly contribute to protecting and celebrating Hanoi’s values, earning public acclaim and support.
With its profound impact and remarkable contributions over the past year, VEC (Vietnam Exhibition Center) outshone two other nominees to win in the “Acts of Love for Hanoi” category. Judges praised VEC not only as a new marvel in Hanoi and a construction miracle in Vietnam but also as a hub that gathers and radiates Vietnamese cultural values.
This recognition goes beyond a mere award; it underscores a responsibility to continue this legacy. VEC is not just a new economic driver but also plays a pivotal role in connecting heritage with contemporary creativity, making culture and art more accessible to a broader audience—from locals to international visitors. Through its initiatives, VEC has demonstrated that “love for Hanoi” can be expressed in modern ways—a love that cherishes the past while boldly embracing innovation and inspiring future generations.
A Premier Destination for National and International Events
Since its launch, VEC has made a significant impact, reaching tens of millions of people. Its international stature is one of its key attractions. Spanning 90 hectares, VEC is the largest exhibition complex in Southeast Asia and ranks among the top 10 globally. This impressive scale enables VEC to host major national and international events, from multilateral conferences and specialized exhibitions to large-scale cultural and artistic programs.
Additionally, VEC’s construction was completed in just 10 months, showcasing exceptional resource mobilization, organization, and coordination. This rapid development ensures Hanoi is well-prepared to host historic programs, cultural exchanges, and large-scale economic events regularly.

Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) – The largest exhibition complex in Southeast Asia, ranked among the top 10 globally
A prime example of VEC’s safe and efficient operational capabilities was the “80 Years of the Journey to Independence, Freedom, and Happiness” exhibition during the 2/9 National Day celebrations. The event attracted over 10 million visitors, making it the largest public exhibition ever held in Vietnam.
In the economic and trade sector, VEC hosted the FBC ASEAN 2025 (ASEAN Manufacturing & Processing Trade Exhibition), featuring over 500 international and domestic booths, attracting more than 15,000 visitors, and generating an estimated transaction value of nearly $50 million.
Looking ahead, VEC will continue to be a top choice for major economic and trade events. Notably, the Autumn Fair 2025, scheduled from October 26 to November 4 at VEC, will foster market connections and promote trade and investment. Additionally, VEC will host specialized exhibitions such as the International Machine Tools Exhibition CMES Vietnam 2025 (November 12–15, 2025).
In a short period, VEC has established a clear development direction: it is not merely an event venue but a hub for creating an exhibition ecosystem. It aims to connect Vietnam with the world, leveraging digital technology to enhance experiences for businesses and visitors, setting new standards in the events industry.
With this vision, VEC strives to build a series of events that showcase Vietnam’s identity, positioning itself as a leading cultural and exhibition destination in the region. The Bui Xuan Phai Award, therefore, holds dual significance: it is both professional recognition and a symbol of the ambition to create a new legacy for Hanoi.
The Bui Xuan Phai Awards – For the Love of Hanoi, established in 2008 by the Sports and Culture Newspaper and the family of the late artist Bui Xuan Phai, aims to identify and honor authors, works, initiatives, and ideas with high artistic and scientific value, deeply connected to Hanoi’s life and imbued with love for the capital. Over 17 seasons, more than 160 authors, works, ideas, and initiatives have been officially nominated, with over 70 awards presented.
