On June 16th, Vietjet and Rolls-Royce officially signed an order for an additional 40 Trent 7000 engines to power 20 wide-body Airbus A330neo aircraft. This order follows the agreement signed at the Singapore Airshow in 2024, bringing the total number of Trent 7000 engines ordered by Vietjet to 80. Airbus announced this order in May.

Vietjet has also selected the comprehensive TotalCare engine maintenance service, optimizing performance and extending the life cycle of the engines.

Speaking at the event, Rob Watson, President of Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, emphasized: “Today’s commitment to order an additional 40 Trent 7000 engines demonstrates the airline’s confidence in the combination of the Trent 7000 and the A330neo. The superior flexibility of this aircraft and engine package enables airlines to serve a wide range of markets and optimize fleet adaptability.”

“Our £1 billion investment in time on wing for the Trent engine family has enhanced the Trent 7000, in some cases, tripling its time on wing. Vietjet is a leading partner of Rolls-Royce in the Asia-Pacific region, and we are proud to accompany the airline in connecting Vietnam to the world with leading-edge technology solutions.”

Vietjet’s CEO, Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, shared: “We trust Rolls-Royce as a strategic partner, accompanying Vietjet in our vision to develop a new generation of wide-body fleet. The investment in an additional 40 Trent 7000 engines within a year demonstrates Vietjet’s strong commitment to expanding our international operations, especially towards long-haul markets such as Europe, North Asia, and North America. With Trent 7000 and TotalCare, we are getting closer to our goal of providing a global flying experience with superior quality, optimized costs, and contributing to the sustainable development of the aviation industry.”

Developed exclusively for the A330neo, the Trent 7000 is Rolls-Royce’s latest generation engine, integrating significant advancements in fuel efficiency, noise, and durability. To date, this engine family has accumulated over 3 million flight hours with outstanding operational performance.

TotalCare is Rolls-Royce’s premium engine service, designed to link maintenance costs to aircraft utilization. This service is supported by the company’s advanced engine monitoring system, enhancing operational readiness, reliability, and efficiency for the airline.

In another development, on May 26th, in Hanoi, Vietjet and Airbus signed a contract for the purchase of 20 wide-body A330-900 aircraft. These aircraft will be equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines. The new contract brings the total number of A330neo orders from Vietjet to 40, in addition to the existing order of 96 A320neo aircraft.

Currently, Vietjet operates over 130 new-generation aircraft and has ordered more than 400, serving its strategy to expand its network across the Asia-Pacific region and reach Europe and North America in the coming time.
