Q3 2025 Retail Sales and Consumer Service Revenue Hit VND 5,176 Trillion

The surge in domestic consumption of goods, services, and tourism, particularly during significant national holidays, coupled with a robust influx of international visitors to Vietnam, has significantly bolstered the growth of the trade and service sector over the past nine months.

In September, the total retail sales and consumer service revenue at current prices reached an estimated VND 598.7 trillion, marking a 2.0% increase compared to the previous month and an 11.3% rise year-on-year. Notably, revenue from apparel sales surged by 15.2% year-on-year; food and foodstuffs by 13.8%; cultural and educational goods by 11.4%; household appliances and equipment by 10.0%; accommodation and catering services by 15.0%; and travel services by 19.7%.

During Q3/2025, the total retail sales and consumer service revenue at current prices reached an estimated VND 1,759.1 trillion, reflecting a 2.6% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 10.1% rise year-on-year.

For the first nine months of 2025, the total retail sales and consumer service revenue at current prices reached an estimated VND 5,176.0 trillion, up 9.5% year-on-year (compared to an 8.8% increase in the same period of 2024). Excluding price factors, the growth rate stood at 7.2% (compared to 5.8% in the same period of 2024).

Retail sales revenue for the first nine months of 2025 reached an estimated VND 3,947.9 trillion, up 8.3% year-on-year. Key categories included food and foodstuffs, which grew by 10.3%; apparel by 8.2%; cultural and educational goods by 8.1%; and household appliances and equipment by 6.7%. Localities recording notable retail sales growth in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period last year were: Da Nang (9.4%); Can Tho (8.8%); Hanoi (8.4%); Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong (both at 8.3%).

Accommodation and catering service revenue for the first nine months of 2025 reached an estimated VND 624.4 trillion, up 14.8% year-on-year. Localities with significant growth in this sector included: Da Nang (18.1%); Ho Chi Minh City (18.0%); Can Tho (14.2%); Hai Phong (12.0%); and Hanoi (11.9%).

Travel service revenue for the first nine months of 2025 reached an estimated VND 69.6 trillion, up 20.5% year-on-year. This growth was driven by proactive tourism promotion programs and the development of new tourism products since the beginning of the year, attracting both domestic and international tourists. Localities with notable increases included: Ho Chi Minh City (24.3%); Hanoi (21.9%); Quang Ninh (20.2%); Vinh Long (16.0%); and Da Nang (13.2%).

Other service revenue for the first nine months of 2025 reached an estimated VND 534.1 trillion, up 12.1% year-on-year. Localities with significant growth in this sector included: Hue (17.4%); Bac Ninh (17.3%); Hai Phong (14.4%); Can Tho (13.6%); Ho Chi Minh City (12.5%); and Khanh Hoa (11.8%).
