Typically, older iPhone models see a price drop after the launch of a new iPhone. However, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have defied this trend in Vietnam, surprising the market.
As of early October, both models experienced a price hike. The 128GB iPhone 15 now retails at 15.99 million VND, a 700,000 VND increase from late August. Meanwhile, the 256GB variant has risen by 1.5 million VND to 19.9 million VND. Similarly, the iPhone 15 Plus saw increases of 700,000 VND and 1 million VND for its 128GB and 256GB versions, now priced at 19.59 million VND and 22.59 million VND, respectively.
Retailers attribute this price surge to heightened consumer demand. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are currently top-selling smartphones in the mid-to-high-end segment across multiple retail systems. While Apple has discontinued these models internationally, supply remains stable in Vietnam.

“With solid specs, a sleek design, and a range of color options at an accessible price point, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are ideal for Apple enthusiasts seeking a budget-friendly smartphone,” notes Trung Trí, a long-time iPhone retailer in Hanoi.
Additionally, the discontinuation of older models like the iPhone 11, 12, and 14 Plus in Vietnam has further boosted iPhone 15 sales, as consumers now have fewer affordable iPhone options.
However, at its current price, the iPhone 15 is encroaching on the sales of the iPhone 16e, which also retails at 15.99 million VND for the 128GB version. The iPhone 16e, less popular in Vietnam, features a newer chip but only one camera and retains the outdated notch design.
Given current market trends, retailers predict the iPhone 15 will remain a top-seller during the year-end shopping season. Consequently, prices are unlikely to drop significantly and may even rise further by year-end.
