Vietnam Airlines Launches Direct Hanoi-Cebu Route: A New Gateway to the Philippines’ Island Paradise

As of December 1, 2025, Vietnam Airlines will officially launch a direct route from Hanoi to Cebu, Philippines, operating three flights weekly on Airbus A321 aircraft. This marks the airline’s first direct connection between Vietnam and the renowned coastal city of Cebu, representing a significant milestone in its strategy to expand its Southeast Asian network.

Cebu, dubbed the “Island Paradise” of the Philippines, boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters, pristine white sandy beaches, and a vibrant marine ecosystem. Beyond its natural beauty, Cebu is a cultural and historical hub, home to numerous ancient architectural landmarks. It also serves as a gateway to other renowned destinations such as Bohol, Mactan, and Malapascua. With a mere three-hour flight from Hanoi, travelers can effortlessly enjoy a short yet enriching getaway.

The inclusion of Cebu in Vietnam Airlines’ network not only offers an exciting new destination for Vietnamese travelers but also underscores the airline’s leadership in connecting ASEAN nations. This expansion fosters tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Philippines.

The Hanoi-Cebu route is expected to attract a steady flow of passengers in both directions. While Filipino tourists and business professionals visit Vietnam, an increasing number of Vietnamese travelers are choosing Cebu and the Philippines for leisure, education, and work.

Operated by the Airbus A321, the route meets international 4-star airline standards. Passengers no longer need to endure 6 to 8 hours of layovers; instead, they enjoy a direct 3-hour flight with a single baggage check-in, saving time and ensuring a seamless journey.

To celebrate the launch, Vietnam Airlines is offering exclusive promotions. Round-trip Economy Class fares start at 5,664,000 VND, while Business Class fares begin at 24,440,000 VND, inclusive of taxes and fees. Early bookings made by February 28, 2026, for travel between December 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026, qualify for these special rates. Additionally, passengers receive one complimentary checked bag, and Lotusmiles members earn 1,000 to 2,000 bonus miles based on their cabin class.

Mr. Đặng Anh Tuấn, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, stated: “The Hanoi-Cebu route exemplifies our commitment to expanding regional connectivity, offering passengers unparalleled convenience and quality. It also highlights Vietnam Airlines’ pioneering role in implementing Resolution 59-NQ/TW on international integration, enhancing tourism, trade, and cultural ties between Vietnam and the Philippines, and bringing Vietnam closer to the global community.”

Currently, Vietnam Airlines operates 9 weekly flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Manila. The addition of 3 weekly direct flights from Hanoi to Cebu increases the total number of Vietnam-Philippines flights to 12 per week. This expansion not only broadens travel options but also reinforces Vietnam Airlines’ role in regional connectivity and promotes Vietnam’s global image.

In 2025, marking its 30th anniversary, Vietnam Airlines continues to solidify its mission as a vital regional airline, expanding its international network and supporting Vietnam’s integration and development.
