On October 8, 2025, the Hanoi Transportation Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board, in collaboration with the Trungnam E&C – Bac Trung Nam joint venture and related units, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Thuong Cat Bridge and its approach roads project.
This is a key city-level project, commemorating the 71st anniversary of Hanoi’s liberation (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2025).
The Thuong Cat Bridge and its approach roads project is part of Hanoi’s transportation infrastructure development plan, aimed at connecting the city center with Dong Anh and Bac Tu Liem districts. It also establishes a transportation link between Ring Road 3.5, National Highway 32, and Nhat Tan Bridge, progressively forming a modern and synchronized transportation network in the northern area of the Red River.

The Thuong Cat Bridge project is led by the Hanoi Transportation Infrastructure Investment and Construction Project Management Board. The project spans a total length of 5,226 meters, including 1,300 meters of approach roads and a 3,904-meter bridge. The main bridge section is 780 meters long, consisting of four spans measuring 120m + 270m + 270m + 120m, with approach bridges extending 3,125 meters.
The main bridge is designed with a width of 35 meters, while the approach bridges are 31 meters wide, accommodating eight lanes—six for motorized vehicles and two for non-motorized traffic. The design speed is 80 km/h. The bridge ensures a clear navigation channel for vessels up to 600 DWT and four 400 DWT barges, with a width of 50 meters and a clearance of 9.5 meters.
The total investment for the project exceeds 7.303 trillion VND, with the construction package (Package 27/XL) valued at 5.930 trillion VND. Construction is expected to take approximately 26 months, with completion scheduled for December 2027.
The Thuong Cat Bridge is a critical component of Hanoi’s urban and infrastructure development strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2045. Upon completion, the bridge will alleviate traffic congestion in the inner city, reduce travel times to the northern area of the Red River, and activate the new urban chain of Dong Anh – Bac Tu Liem. It will also foster logistics and regional connectivity, driving economic and social development for Hanoi and the Northern Key Economic Region.
Established on May 23, 2008, Trung Nam E&C is a leading member of Trungnam Group, a top Vietnamese multi-industry conglomerate.

With over 300 modern mechanical devices and a team of experienced engineers and workers, Trung Nam E&C has built a reputation through numerous national key projects, including:
Hue Intersection Overpass (2015): Vietnam’s first three-tier intersection, awarded the High-Quality Construction Prize by the Ministry of Construction. Recognized for its aesthetic appeal, quality, and ahead-of-schedule completion.
Bach Dang Bridge (2018): Spanning nearly 3 km across the river connecting Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, it is among Vietnam’s largest multi-span cable-stayed bridges. Its construction required precise engineering and advanced technology.
My Thuan 2 Bridge (2023): Crossing the Tien River with a total investment of over 5,000 billion VND, it is the first cable-stayed bridge designed and constructed entirely by Vietnamese engineers.
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge (2025): Connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, with a total length of over 17 km, including a 270-meter main cable-stayed span—one of Vietnam’s longest bridges.
Additionally, Trung Nam E&C has undertaken major irrigation projects such as the Ho Chi Minh City Tidal Control Project and the Cai Lon Sluice Gate (part of the Cai Lon – Cai Be Irrigation System).
