Global gold prices surged on October 8, 2025, reaching unprecedented highs and momentarily surpassing the historic milestone of 4,000 USD/ounce.

This gold frenzy is primarily fueled by escalating global economic instability and geopolitical tensions, reinforcing gold’s status as a safe-haven asset.

Additionally, expectations of a Federal Reserve interest rate cut, a weakening US dollar, and robust gold purchases by central banks have collectively sustained upward price pressure. According to the PBOC, China’s gold reserves increased for the 11th consecutive month, reaching over 74 million ounces by the end of September, with the value rising from 253.8 billion USD to 283.2 billion USD.

This trend underscores investors’ quest for secure asset preservation amidst volatile financial markets.

Domestically, SJC gold bars saw a significant uptick, rising by 500,000 to 800,000 VND per tael compared to the previous session, nearing the 141.9 million VND per tael threshold.

As of 8:30 AM, major retailers like Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), DOJI, and PNJ quoted selling prices between 140.6 and 141.9 million VND per tael, with buying prices hovering around 139.9 million VND per tael.

Similarly, 9999 gold rings at leading companies such as DOJI, PNJ, and Bao Tin Minh Chau traded at approximately 136 million VND per tael for buying and 138 to 140 million VND per tael for selling, marking an increase of 700,000 to 900,000 VND per tael.

SJC gold prices today, October 8, climbed close to 142 million VND per tael.

Important Note for SJC Gold Bar Purchases Starting Today

In an official announcement, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) has transitioned to an online registration system for SJC gold bar purchases via their website, effective October 8.

The new policy mandates that customers register successfully online before visiting the store for transactions. This online registration is applicable only at two locations in Ho Chi Minh City: the branches in Ban Co Ward and An Nhon Ward.

Customers who register online will receive an appointment time to collect their gold, eliminating the need for early morning queuing.

Mandatory registration details include: ID card number, full name, email, and residential address. SJC reserves the right to refuse transactions if any provided information is inaccurate. The final gold price will be locked in at the time of in-store collection.

This initiative aims to alleviate overcrowding and ensure a more orderly, efficient, and civilized transaction process. Prospective buyers are advised to adhere strictly to the new registration procedure.

Earlier, Bao Tin Minh Chau also announced a temporary suspension of services across all outlets on the morning of October 7 due to severe weather conditions.
