On October 11, the Vietnam Airport Corporation (ACV) announced that the Long Thanh International Airport consortium is mobilizing all resources, including 14,000 workers and 3,000 construction equipment units, operating in “3 shifts, 4 teams” across various packages. This effort ensures that Long Thanh Airport will welcome its first technical flight on December 19, 2025, and commence commercial operations in the first half of 2026.

According to ACV, the airport comprises 15 packages, with 3 completed and 12 under construction. Notably, the passenger terminal—the project’s most critical component—has substantially completed its construction phase.

In September 2025, the airport site experienced 21 rainy days, significantly impacting construction activities and disrupting several underground works, including tunnels, drainage systems, and road foundations.

Despite adverse weather conditions, contractors have implemented various measures to overcome challenges and maintain the project’s timeline.

By August 2025, the passenger terminal’s main steel roof structure and canopy areas were installed. The roof layers in the inner wing section were essentially completed by September 2025.

The central section is expected to be completed by November 30, 2025.

The runway is now substantially complete. In late September, Long Thanh Airport officially received its first calibration flight.

Packages such as fuel supply systems, parking facilities, airport management system equipment, Cargo Terminal 1, the second runway, and connecting infrastructure are ahead of schedule by 3 to 6 months, with thousands of workers and machinery deployed.

To date, Route 1 directly connecting to Long Thanh Airport completed technical testing on April 30, 2025, as scheduled. Route 2 has finished foundation and roadbed work. The contractor is actively implementing traffic safety, landscaping, and lighting, expected to complete Package 6.12 by November 2025.

According to the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the installation of primary and secondary radar systems at Long Thanh Airport is underway. This technology ensures safety and efficient air traffic management for Vietnam’s most advanced aviation hub.
