Fortune, America’s leading business and finance magazine, is globally renowned for its prestigious rankings of companies and leaders.

According to Fortune, the Asia’s 100 Most Powerful Women list recognizes women who are redefining leadership by transforming companies, reshaping industries, driving growth, fostering innovation, and enhancing business quality, while inspiring the next generation of leaders.

This list is compiled based on five criteria: company size and growth, strategic vision, innovation and breakthrough impact, influence on business and the economy, and reputation and social impact.

This year, the honored female leaders and entrepreneurs hail from 14 markets, including China, India, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Macao (China), and Vietnam, spanning various industries.

Born in France, Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien, a Board Member and CEO of Vinamilk, is often referred to as the “Dairy Queen of Vietnam.”

Joining Vinamilk in 1976, when Vietnam’s dairy industry was virtually non-existent and child malnutrition rates were high, the company’s leadership and Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien set a mission: “Ensure every Vietnamese child has access to the highest quality nutrition products.” Over nearly 50 years at Vinamilk, including 33 years as CEO, Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien and her team have built Vietnam’s largest dairy company and one of the world’s most promising dairy brands.

Vinamilk has laid the foundation for Vietnam’s modern dairy industry, dispelling the notion that “Vietnam cannot develop a dairy cow industry.” Pioneering the “White Revolution” in the 1990s, Vinamilk established domestic dairy farming, leading to today’s large-scale, modern industry. Early on, Vinamilk embraced sustainable development initiatives like the “Fund for Vietnamese Tallness,” “1 Million Trees for Vietnam,” and the “Vinamilk Pathway to Dairy Net Zero 2050.”

Under her leadership, Vinamilk launched long-term programs to improve the health of Vietnamese generations, ensuring children nationwide have daily access to milk. Notable initiatives include the “School Milk Program,” which has improved nutrition for preschool and primary students, reduced malnutrition, and enhanced child growth; and the “Fund for Vietnamese Tallness,” which has provided nearly 43 million milk cartons to over 550,000 underprivileged children across Vietnam over 18 years.

The “1 Million Trees for Vietnam” initiative, jointly implemented by Vinamilk and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment from 2012 to 2020, planted 1,121,000 trees across 56 sites in 20 provinces, exemplifying commitment to environmental sustainability.

Since 2023, Vinamilk has committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050. As Vietnam’s first dairy company with three units (two factories and one farm) certified as carbon-neutral (PAS 2060:2014), Vinamilk has also joined the global dairy initiative Pathways to Dairy Net Zero.

In 2013, Vinamilk inaugurated two state-of-the-art “super factories,” a milestone that elevated Vietnam’s dairy industry to global standards and showcased international production capabilities.

With cutting-edge farms and factories, unwavering quality standards, and a commitment to innovation, Vinamilk has elevated Vietnamese products to meet top international safety, purity, and taste standards. Exporting to 65 countries and territories, Vinamilk serves both domestic and global markets.

Over 33 years as CEO, Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien’s innovative spirit, decisive leadership, and philosophy of “autonomy, determination, and compassion” have propelled Vinamilk to global prominence. Today, Vinamilk ranks among the world’s top 36 dairy companies by revenue and is the most promising global dairy brand.

Born in 1953, Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien graduated in dairy processing from Moscow University and returned to Vietnam in 1976, beginning her journey at Vinamilk with a vision to provide quality nutrition for Vietnamese people. She has served as Vinamilk‘s CEO since 1992.

As a leader, Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien is a powerhouse of innovation and strategic vision, driving Vinamilk‘s global reach and shaping Vietnam’s dairy industry. Her contributions to the industry, the economy, and generations of Vietnamese children have earned her prestigious honors, including the Third-Class Independence Order (2022), Labor Hero in the Renewal Period (2005), First-Class Labor Order (2006), and Second-Class Labor Order (2001). In 2025, she was named among the Top 60 Outstanding Individuals in 50 Years of Building, Protecting, and Developing Ho Chi Minh City.

Mrs. Mai Kieu Lien is a pioneer in Vietnam’s dairy industry and a key contributor to the development of Vietnamese children and citizens through nutrition. She is not only a role model for women in business but also a symbol of dedication, perseverance, and aspiration.

Recognized internationally, she has been featured by Nikkei and Forbes Asia as one of Asia’s most influential businesswomen, with significant contributions to Vietnam and the region’s economy. She is the only woman honored by Forbes Vietnam with the “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
