Honda Vision’s Former Price Hike Due to Popularity Now Faces a Tough Competitor: Larger Storage, Lower Price by Millions

In mid-2022, the popular Honda Vision scooter faced a sudden shortage, causing its market price to surge significantly. While Honda Vietnam listed the scooter at a price range of VND 30 million to VND 35 million, depending on the version, the actual selling price at that time skyrocketed by over VND 20 million. Including registration fees, buyers had to shell out nearly VND 60 million.

Currently, the Honda Vision remains a popular choice among buyers. However, with the growing trend towards emission-free vehicles, the VinFast Vento Neo has emerged as a strong contender, capturing significant attention.

Beyond its attractive pricing, the Vento Neo boasts several standout features that make it a compelling alternative to the Honda Vision.

VinFast is currently offering a promotional program that significantly reduces the Vento Neo’s price at dealerships. Officially priced at VND 32 million (inclusive of VAT, battery, and charger), the scooter is widely available at dealerships for just around VND 28 million.

Compared to the Honda Vision’s suggested retail price, which ranges from VND 31.3 million to VND 36.6 million depending on the version, the VinFast Vento Neo offers a real-world price that is VND 3 million to over VND 8 million lower.

One of the Vento Neo’s key advantages over its competitors is its spacious 27-liter under-seat storage, capable of accommodating two half-shell helmets while still leaving room for personal items. Additionally, since the scooter uses an electric motor, the storage compartment remains cool, a feature rarely found in gasoline-powered scooters where the engine is located beneath the storage area.

Furthermore, the Vento Neo is equipped with an all-LED lighting system, enhancing both its modern aesthetic and visibility. This difference is particularly noticeable when riding alongside other vehicles.

The VinFast Vento Neo also features a digital display with optional eSIM connectivity, allowing riders to locate their vehicle, enable remote anti-theft functions, and receive diagnostic alerts via their smartphone.

Meanwhile, Honda Vietnam has focused on enhancing the Vision’s design to maintain its market leadership. The scooter features a Smartkey system that enables keyless ignition, remote locating, and anti-theft functions within the connectivity range. Riders simply need to keep the Smartkey on their person to start the scooter, eliminating the need for a traditional key.

The Honda Vision also excels with a higher ground clearance—152 mm for the Standard version, 130 mm for the Classic, and 175 mm for the Sport. Additionally, it has a lighter dry weight, ranging from 93 kg to 94 kg, with the Classic at 98 kg and the Sport at 97 kg.

Both the VinFast Vento Neo and Honda Vision offer ample foot space and luggage hooks, catering to riders who need to carry additional items. Both models also feature upright handlebars, ensuring a comfortable riding posture.

Both scooters are equipped with disc brakes on the front wheel and drum brakes on the rear.

Naturally, the differences between the two scooters also stem from their inherent characteristics: electric vehicles offer lower operating costs (cheaper energy refills and less maintenance), while gasoline vehicles provide faster refueling times. However, whether these traits are advantages or disadvantages depends on the user’s specific needs. For instance, gasoline scooters are better suited for mountainous terrain or long-distance travel, whereas electric scooters are ideal for urban commuters with shorter daily distances.
