Phú Quốc Aims to Welcome a Surge of International Tourists by Year-End

According to the An Giang Department of Tourism, in the first nine months of 2025, the province welcomed nearly 20 million visitors, including over 1.2 million international tourists, generating more than 51.870 trillion VND in revenue.

Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone continues to solidify its position as the region’s “tourism hub,” recording over 6.5 million visitors and a total revenue of 31.138 trillion VND. International tourists to Phu Quoc account for a staggering 97% of the province’s total international visitors—a testament to the island’s magnetic appeal on the regional tourism map.

According to forecasts by An Giang’s tourism sector, the final months of 2025 and the 2025-2026 winter season will witness a surge in international visitors to Phu Quoc, particularly with the return of Russian tourists and those from CIS countries. Additionally, the “Pearl Island” anticipates a new wave of travelers from the Middle East, China, South Korea, India, and other key markets.

Phu Quoc boasts all the advantages to become Asia’s premier destination: pristine nature, breathtaking beaches, rich culture and cuisine, and a year-round temperate climate. The island is not only a haven for relaxation but also ideal for adventure and experiential tourism. With its high-end resorts, reasonably priced accommodations, safe environment, and numerous international direct flights, Phu Quoc is becoming a top choice for global travelers.

Recently, Phu Quoc was once again honored in the Top 3 most beautiful islands globally and ranked first in Asia, as voted by readers of the prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler (USA) in the 2025 Reader’s Choice Awards. This award, with a history spanning over 30 years, is one of the most respected in the world.

Vice Chairman of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People’s Committee, Ngo Minh Tri, stated that the locality is implementing numerous key infrastructure projects to sustain growth and prepare for the APEC Summit. These include urban beautification, airport expansion, new road construction, and the development of large-scale resort complexes. Notably, Phu Quoc has introduced a 30-day visa exemption policy for international tourists, facilitating longer stays.

Concurrently, An Giang Province is finalizing the “Plan to Develop Phu Quoc into a High-Quality Service and Eco-Tourism Center, and a National and International-Level Island Tourism Destination,” expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval in October 2025.

Furthermore, various research and development activities for new tourism products are underway, such as surveying night tourism models in Phu Quoc, expanding experiential, culinary, shopping, and entertainment options to cater to diverse tourist needs.

Since the beginning of 2025, Phu Quoc has hosted a series of large-scale promotional events to attract domestic and international visitors, including the 2025 Phu Quoc Tourism and Culinary Day, the First Traditional Hundred-Year Phu Quoc Fish Sauce Festival, welcoming domestic and international Famtrip delegations, and receiving numerous international cruise ships.
