For the first time in Vietnam, an airline has been named after an island, reflecting Sun Group’s strategic commitment to transforming Phu Quoc into a global destination and a new regional aviation hub.

Alongside the launch of Sun PhuQuoc Airways, Sun Group is investing in the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport.

The group anticipates a surge in air travel demand, given Phu Quoc’s recent designation as a special economic zone under An Giang Province and its selection as the host for the 2027 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum. The event is expected to attract 10,000–12,000 delegates, including top leaders from 21 APEC member economies, such as the United States, Russia, China, and Japan.

Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group’s Board of Directors

Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group’s Board of Directors, emphasized, “Sun PhuQuoc Airways is designed to expand travel, leisure, and exploration opportunities for Vietnamese citizens and global travelers alike, offering direct flights, affordable pricing, and a seamless experience from sky to land.”

The airline’s launch event, themed “Symphony of Sunshine,” featured a meticulously choreographed unveiling of the cabin crew uniforms.

Inspired by the traditional five-panel áo dài of Northern Vietnam and the elegance of Nam Phương Empress, the uniforms blend cultural heritage with modern sophistication.

The overall design features a rich chocolate palette. Chief attendants and flight attendants wear layered ensembles, including high-collared white shirts, pencil skirts, long vests or capes, and accessories like tilted hats and deep red scarves. Pilots’ uniforms adhere to international aviation standards, with white shirts, red ties, and dark blue vests and jackets.

Complementing the attire are bespoke accessories, including a winged badge, airplane-shaped tie clip, and custom pearl earrings.

During the event, Sun Group also unveiled Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ official branding and logo, featuring a “Sun” emblem.

On September 25, 2025, the airline received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Aviation Training Organization Certificate (ATO) from Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority.

The airline has taken delivery of its first three aircraft—two Airbus A321NX and one Airbus A321CEO—as part of its 2025 fleet expansion plan. By the end of 2026, the fleet is expected to grow to 25 aircraft, with a target of 30–35 by 2027.
