Shortly after its launch in Thailand, the new Honda Wave 125 has officially arrived in Vietnam through private importers. This fully imported model has quickly gained attention for its sleek design and impressive fuel efficiency.

According to reports from several dealerships in the southern region, the first batches of the 2026 Honda Wave 125, including the special R Special Edition ProFender, have landed in Vietnam. Prices range from over 90 million VND to more than 100 million VND, depending on the version and dealership – significantly higher than the domestically assembled Future 125 (priced around 35–40 million VND).
These are privately imported vehicles, not distributed by Honda Vietnam, so quantities are limited. The high price is largely due to import taxes, shipping costs, and the collectible value of the “made in Thailand” label.

The new Honda Wave 125 has a design that is completely different from previous Wave models but shares similarities with the official Future 125 in Vietnam. The new version retains its compact, neutral style but introduces new paint colors and graphics.
Additionally, the special R Special Edition ProFender is a highlight of this upgrade. This version stands out with its white base color, accented by sporty black-red graphics and the “Wave R” logo running along the body, giving it a more dynamic look.
Notably, it features an adjustable ProFender rear suspension, enhancing stability and comfort during rides – a rare feature in entry-level motorcycles.

The LED headlight has been completely redesigned, offering brighter illumination and greater energy efficiency. The analog gauge with a small LCD screen displays multiple trip metrics, making it easy for riders to monitor their journey.
One of the standout features of the new Thai-imported Honda Wave 125 is the Smart Key system with Honda Smart Controller – a technology typically found only in high-end scooters. Riders can start the engine or open the storage compartment without inserting the key.

Additionally, the bike is equipped with a USB Type-C charging port in the front storage compartment, ideal for delivery riders or long-distance travelers, along with a foldable hook for added convenience, especially in urban environments.
Another highlight is the CBS (Combi Brake System), which evenly distributes braking force between both wheels, reducing the risk of skidding during emergency stops.
Notably, these features are not available on the official Honda Future 125 in Vietnam.

However, the Honda Wave 125 appears to share the same engine as the Future model in Vietnam. The Thai-imported version is equipped with a 125cc 4-stroke PGM-FI engine, delivering 9.5 horsepower and 10.6 Nm of torque.
This engine boasts impressive fuel efficiency – just 1.46 liters/100km, equivalent to 71.4 km/liter, one of the lowest consumption rates in its class.
The 5.4-liter fuel tank and 17-liter storage compartment are significant advantages, allowing for longer trips or ample storage of personal items.

However, with a reference price of around 100 million VND, the Thai-imported Honda Wave 125 becomes a luxury item compared to the domestic motorcycle market. Nonetheless, it will be an exciting “toy” for those seeking uniqueness.
