At a time of stability, enviable reputation, and income, instead of choosing to pause and enjoy, she decided to take a completely new path: becoming the General Agency Director (GAD) of FWD Vietnam.
This pivotal decision made her one of the standout figures among the young leadership generation in the life insurance industry—those who dare to expand their “comfort zones” to start their own ventures, with the ambition to build their own organizations and leave a lasting legacy. This is why we sought her out, to listen to the story behind this journey of resilience.

You spent over a decade in the banking industry in senior management roles. What motivated you to shift to life insurance and take on the role of General Agency Director (GAD)?
During my more than 10 years in banking, I enjoyed stability, career advancement opportunities, and an income many aspire to. But at a certain point, I realized I needed more—a journey to challenge myself, the freedom to build a team in my own way, and to create something that bears my personal mark.

In your opinion, what is the biggest difference between a life insurance sales agent and a GAD?
For me, the biggest difference lies in the mindset of ownership.

As a GAD, I’m no longer working just to meet my own targets, but to build a sustainable system where every team member can grow and shine. I have the autonomy to set directions, create a work environment based on values I believe in, and watch my team evolve daily. The feeling of creating, leading, and seeing the achievements of an entire team is something few “employee” roles can offer.

What was the most memorable challenge when you first started?

The biggest challenge was convincing talented individuals to join the insurance industry, which is often misunderstood. But with FWD’s support, I felt confident. Their financial backing and other resources allowed me to focus on growing my team. FWD’s youthful, modern brand aligns perfectly with my vision of building a dynamic, young team. Their simple, customer-centric products make it easier for the team to connect with clients.

How significant is FWD’s support policy in your role as a GAD?
I often tell my colleagues: starting a business alone is hard, but starting with FWD is different.

Additionally, I appreciate FWD’s lean and efficient office model, which minimizes investment costs while maintaining professionalism. This practical approach allows GADs to quickly launch their offices without excessive time or resources on initial setup.
Another strength of FWD is its comprehensive training program for GADs. Beyond product knowledge and technology, FWD equips us with leadership, business management, event organization, and team culture-building skills. These “entrepreneurial skills” are essential for long-term growth. Though I managed in banking, this knowledge has significantly broadened my perspective.

Beyond policies, how do you evaluate FWD’s culture of collaboration?
I’m truly impressed by how FWD listens. Any issue from a General Agency is quickly addressed with practical solutions, especially in technology and processes. The nationwide network of GADs also supports each other actively. No one feels alone—we’re a community growing together.

Looking long-term, what prospects do you see for the GAD path?

With FWD’s structured support, I believe any General Agency Director (GAD) can develop their office for at least 5-10 years, if not longer.
Who do you think is best suited for the GAD role?
I believe the opportunity to become a GAD isn’t limited to experienced insurance managers. This role is open to individuals from finance, banking, and other sectors.

With strong leadership, the ability to inspire and unite a team, a GAD can not only succeed personally but also build a sustainable organization, leaving a unique mark on the market.
Thank you for sharing your insights. I believe many will find inspiration and motivation to grow, especially in the life insurance industry.
Becoming a General Agency Director (GAD) is an opportunity for individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to prove themselves, and the readiness to tackle challenges in the insurance sector. With comprehensive support from companies like FWD, GADs can build their careers while contributing to the industry’s sustainable development.
