On the morning of November 5th, the parking lot of Co.opmart Quy Nhon (Quy Nhon Ward, Gia Lai Province) was packed. Inside the supermarket, crowds of people were stocking up on instant noodles, eggs, beverages, dried fish, sausages, rice, and cooking oil. Fresh produce sections were constantly restocked by staff, but shelves emptied quickly.

“The big storm is expected tomorrow afternoon. I’m worried about flooding and power outages, so I’m stocking up on dry goods for my family,” said Ms. Tran Thi Huong, a local resident.
Inside the supermarket, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Head of Marketing at Co.opmart Quy Nhon, was busy coordinating staff to organize products. He noted that over the past two days, customer numbers had surged significantly. The supermarket had increased its daily supply of vegetables by 3 tons, imported 4,000 cartons of instant noodles, and stocked approximately 10 tons of other essential items. Prices remained stable, and promotional programs were in place to ensure customers could shop with peace of mind.
At the checkout counters, cashiers worked tirelessly. Long lines formed at each counter as customers waited to pay.
Mr. Nguyen Danh Nhan, Director of Co.opmart Quy Nhon and An Nhon, stated that all staff members had been mobilized to serve customers. “We’ve prepared three times the usual inventory, especially fresh produce and dry goods, and have reserves ready for relief efforts if needed,” he added.
Co.opmart recently launched a new online shopping channel, which saw a tenfold increase in online orders. Many customers, wary of heavy rain, opted for online purchases, receiving deliveries within hours.

At Dam Market (Quy Nhon Ward), the atmosphere was just as lively. The sounds of bargaining and rain created a unique symphony as the storm approached. Stalls selling vegetables, dried fish, and fresh meat were packed, with goods selling out as soon as they were displayed.
By noon on November 5th, Gia Lai Province had activated its full typhoon response system, implementing the highest-level prevention measures. Authorities continuously broadcast warnings, guiding residents to secure homes, anchor boats, and stockpile essentials.
The Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai Province instructed distributors, supermarkets, and local markets to ensure a stable supply of goods, preventing shortages or price hikes during the storm.
The Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai Province issued a notice allowing students to stay home to avoid Typhoon No. 13 (Kalmaegi) as it approached the mainland.
All educational institutions in 58 eastern wards and communes of Gia Lai Province suspended classes from the afternoon of November 5th until the end of November 7th.
