Former Kuwaiti Prime Minister: Vietnam is the “Land of Great Things”

During his official state visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the private residence of former Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Kuwait City on the afternoon of November 17th. Sheikh Nasser has been a pivotal figure in fostering and strengthening the robust relationship between Vietnam and Kuwait over several decades.

In a warm and respectful atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at meeting former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah once again, a great friend of Vietnam, and cherished the sincere sentiments and support that the former Prime Minister has extended to Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emotionally recalled the historic visit of former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser to Vietnam in May 2007, which marked a significant turning point in Vietnam-Kuwait relations, including the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex project.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always remembers the pioneering role and dedication of former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser in elevating the two nations to become each other’s leading economic, investment, and development partners in the region.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser about Vietnam’s notable development achievements in recent times.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, with its new capabilities and position, Vietnam is ready to be a reliable and sustainable partner in Kuwait’s economic diversification strategy, particularly in energy, industry, supply chains, investment, and finance.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed confidence that the newly established Strategic Partnership will continue to grow, building upon the valuable legacy laid by former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah expressed his joy at welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, a “great friend” and “brother” of Kuwait, and admiration for Vietnam, “the land of great things,” notably President Ho Chi Minh, who dedicated his entire life to the cause of national liberation.

Congratulating Vietnam on its significant achievements, the former Prime Minister noted that with determination and resilience, the Vietnamese people have overcome all challenges in the 20th century and created “miracles” in the 21st century, becoming a nation with political and economic influence in Asia.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah emphasized that the people of Kuwait will always remember Vietnam’s balanced stance and support for justice during Kuwait’s difficult times. He also mentioned that Kuwait’s leaders have developed long-term and specific strategies to enhance cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in ensuring food security.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser affirmed that he will always continue to accompany and promote Vietnam-Kuwait relations in any capacity, for the benefit of the people of both nations and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region./.
