This field is Artificial Intelligence (AI).
According to market research firm IDC, AI’s impact on the global economy is estimated to generate approximately $1.15 trillion in 2024. By 2030, this figure is projected to nearly quintuple, reaching $5 trillion, primarily driven by increased revenue, cost reductions through automation, data-driven decision-making, and enhanced operational efficiency.
AI is also one of the core topics discussed at the VinFuture Sci-Tech Week 2025, which brings together leading scientists from around the world.
Top global scientists will gather in Vietnam to discuss groundbreaking scientific advancements at the VinFuture Sci-Tech Week 2025.
During the event in Vietnam, Prof. Edson Prestes (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) is expected to share insights on the role of ethics and safety in AI—a foundation for ensuring that advancements in this field remain aligned with human values and serve the greater good.
As a member of the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation, UNESCO’s Expert Group on AI Ethics, the Global Future Council on AI, and the G20 Task Force on Digital Economy under the World Economic Forum, Prof. Prestes highly values the panel’s theme, which aligns with his principles.
“My ideal is to contribute to humanity, with the hope of improving the quality of life for the underprivileged worldwide. Therefore, my speech will emphasize the need to act in the interest of those without a voice in society. Connecting with like-minded individuals will truly be an extraordinary experience,” Prof. Prestes shared.
Leading Global Experts to Attend VinFuture 2025 in Vietnam
This year, under the theme “Together We Rise, Together We Thrive,” the VinFuture Sci-Tech Week’s panel discussions will delve into topics critical to humanity’s future, including biomedical science, agriculture, robotics, intelligent automation, and environmental sustainability, in addition to AI.

As an expert in renewable energy, Prof. Aldo Steinfeld of ETH Zurich—a key nominating partner for the VinFuture Awards—believes this year’s panel theme, “Science and Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” is both timely and critical in addressing global challenges.
“The panel’s theme is perfectly timed as the world grapples with interconnected challenges in environment, energy, and sustainable development. By fostering international scientific dialogue, VinFuture highlights that collaborative research is key to shaping a more sustainable future,” Prof. Steinfeld noted.
According to the expert and panelist, the multidisciplinary dialogues and international collaborations promoted by VinFuture will play a pivotal role in transforming knowledge into sustainable solutions, ensuring science serves humanity effectively. He also expressed enthusiasm for engaging with Vietnam’s vibrant and promising young research community.
Similarly, Prof. Kurt Kremer of the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Germany), a speaker at the “Robotics and Intelligent Automation” panel, anticipates participating in the VinFuture Sci-Tech Week 2025. He values the event as a unique platform for interdisciplinary exchange among scientists from diverse fields.
“The VinFuture Sci-Tech Week brings together exceptional experts from various disciplines, setting it apart from conventional scientific conferences. This is a rare opportunity for scientists to exchange ideas and research topics,” Prof. Kremer remarked.
He emphasized that in an era where AI and automation are reshaping every aspect of life, high-level academic forums like VinFuture are essential. They not only facilitate knowledge sharing but also guide technological development toward safety, responsibility, and human-centric outcomes.

From a biological and agricultural perspective, Dr. Nadia Radzman (University of Cambridge, UK), also a VinFuture Awards nominating partner, observes that this year’s “Innovations in Agriculture and Food” panel is drawing global attention to practical, sustainable innovations with significant impact on livelihoods, particularly in developing nations.
“I believe this theme is crucial in highlighting the innovations we should prioritize—those capable of profoundly affecting people’s lives, especially in developing regions. It’s time the world focuses on innovations that can be developed and implemented with limited resources, yet deliver tangible benefits to communities,” Dr. Radzman stated.
According to Dr. Radzman, the discussions at VinFuture foster a more equitable innovation mindset, encouraging solutions not only from major tech hubs but also from resource-constrained regions where science is most needed.
