The 250cc ‘Hybrid Beast’ Motorcycle: Benda P51 Pushes Boundaries with 60 Horsepower

At EICMA 2025, amidst a sea of new models from major brands, the Benda P51 emerged as a standout phenomenon. This is no ordinary 250cc motorcycle familiar to enthusiasts, nor is it a mere concept bike designed solely for show.

The Benda P51 emerges with a rare hybrid configuration in its class: a 250cc horizontal twin-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor positioned beneath. This bold combination has birthed a machine that many describe as a technological marvel, directly challenging the limits of small-displacement bikes.

The first striking feature is its design inspired directly by the legendary P-51 Mustang fighter. The powerful aerodynamic lines, sharp bodywork, and muscular proportions make the bike resemble a miniaturized speed machine straight out of the golden age of American fighter jets.

Benda’s ambition is evident in naming the model after an icon of aviation history, and this is fully reflected in the P51’s performance capabilities.

Beneath the Mustang-inspired exterior lies a liquid-cooled, 250cc horizontal twin-cylinder DOHC engine. However, the game-changer is the electric motor positioned below, working in tandem to deliver a combined output of 62 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque.

With a dry weight of just 178 kg, the full power is unleashed almost instantly, propelling the Benda P51 from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.7 seconds. This is a feat that even many larger-displacement bikes struggle to achieve, let alone typical 250cc models.

When compared to its peers, the P51’s positive absurdity becomes even more apparent. The Yamaha MT 07, a popular mid-range naked bike in Asia and international markets, boasts 73.4 PS from its 689cc engine.

Yet, the P51, with just one-third the displacement, nearly matches the MT 07’s power thanks to its hybrid configuration. This is unprecedented in the small-displacement segment, traditionally seen as entry-level, gentle, and less demanding. Benda directly challenges the industry: does a larger engine always equate to superior performance?

With the P51, the answer is no longer straightforward. The fusion of electric and traditional engine technologies showcases a new direction where performance isn’t solely dependent on displacement. The P51 isn’t just a concept bike for show—it represents a vision of the future, where small-displacement motorcycles can match or even surpass mid-range and larger models with the right technological support.

This explains why Benda’s EICMA 2025 booth was consistently packed with visitors. Many enthusiasts, accustomed to traditional standards, found themselves lingering longer than expected to admire the P51.

The bike’s arrival challenges all previous notions about small-displacement bikes, where brands typically focus on affordability and newcomer-friendliness. The P51 disrupts this norm with a provocative question: would you dare to mass-produce this bike?

With fighter jet-inspired design, over 60 horsepower, supercar-level acceleration, and groundbreaking technology, the Benda P51 is ushering in a new era for 250cc motorcycles. It demonstrates that displacement is just one factor among many determining performance. As hybrid technology advances, redefining power in the small-displacement segment may be just a matter of time.

While it remains unclear if the P51 will enter mass production, it has already left a strong impression at EICMA. For performance enthusiasts, it promises a future where speed isn’t limited by 250cc, and where previous boundaries can be shattered with a twist of the throttle.
