According to Carscoops, the 2027 Kia Telluride enters its second generation with significant updates in design, size, and powertrain. This three-row SUV adopts a more rugged and boxy aesthetic, highlighted by flat body panels, flared wheel arches, and a prominent hood that exudes robustness.

One of the standout features of the new generation is the redesigned grille. The X-Pro variant, tailored for off-road capabilities, features a thick, angular “block grille” paired with high roof rails to emphasize its practicality. Other variants sport a vertical-slat grille, partially enclosed to enhance aerodynamics.
The LED headlights and taillights retain their vertical layout but have been sharpened for a more modern and distinct appearance.

The 2027 Telluride’s dimensions have been expanded to enhance cabin space. Compared to its predecessor, the vehicle is 58 mm longer, with a 75 mm longer wheelbase and a 25 mm increase in height. These changes aim to improve comfort for third-row passengers, a critical factor for three-row SUVs.
The interior has also undergone significant revisions. Kia has replaced the traditional gearshift with a column-mounted shifter. The center console is more streamlined, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.

In terms of powertrain, Kia has discontinued the naturally aspirated V6 engine from the previous generation. It is replaced by two four-cylinder options: a turbocharged engine and a turbocharged hybrid variant.
The 2.5L turbocharged engine delivers approximately 274 horsepower and 311 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid version combines a 2.5L turbocharged engine with a 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing a total of 329 horsepower and 339 Nm of torque. The hybrid model features a 6-speed automatic transmission and an optional all-wheel-drive system with an electronic differential lock (E-DTVC) for improved traction.
Kia estimates the hybrid variant achieves around 35 MPG, equivalent to 6.7 L/100 km under EPA standards, with a range of over 965 km on a full tank and charge.
The X-Pro variant, designed for off-road performance, offers a ground clearance of 231 mm, a 50/50 center differential lock, and an electronic limited-slip differential (E-LSD) for enhanced grip.
Regarding towing capacity, the turbocharged variant can tow up to 2,268 kg, while the hybrid model can handle approximately 2,041 kg. Additionally, a self-leveling rear suspension system ensures stability when carrying or towing heavy loads.
Kia has announced that the 2027 Telluride will debut at the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show and will begin deliveries in North America in early 2026.
Overall, the 2027 Telluride marks a significant shift from its predecessor, transitioning from a traditional family SUV to a more modern, boxy design. The introduction of a hybrid variant and design updates may appeal to younger buyers who prioritize both functionality and fuel efficiency.
