The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a large-scale raid on a residential property in the Nattoki area, on the outskirts of Lahore, Pakistan, uncovering a clandestine facility producing toxic synthetic milk supplied to stores across the city. The operation followed an extended period of surveillance and was executed on the night of November 16, 2025.

According to PFA Director General Asim Javed, the facility operated during late nights and early mornings to evade detection by authorities. The perpetrators mixed chemically-laden powder, water, and substandard ghee to manufacture counterfeit milk before distributing it to the market.

During the on-site inspection, PFA enforcement teams seized and destroyed 400 liters of adulterated milk, a delivery truck, multiple metal containers of milk, 32 bags of powder, and 55 empty sacks. Samples of the chemicals used in the concoction, thickening agents, and contaminated ghee were also collected. Rapid testing confirmed the products were entirely unfit for consumption and posed severe health risks to the public.

One suspect was apprehended in the act of mixing the substances. The PFA has filed a case and is continuing investigations to track down other members of the counterfeit milk production and distribution network.

Asim Javed emphasized:

“The ingredients used in this milk pose significant health risks to the public. This crackdown is part of a broader food safety campaign directed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aimed at eradicating food adulteration in Lahore.”

The PFA urged citizens to actively cooperate by reporting suspicious food-related activities via the hotline 1223 or the official Facebook inbox. They also announced the implementation of a new international standard policy to regulate milk supply chains and enhance quality across Punjab.

The incident highlights the sophistication of food counterfeiters, who have shifted operations to residential areas to evade detection. The PFA pledged to intensify surprise inspections and tighten supply chain oversight to safeguard consumer health.
