Inspired by the “folds” of wood, the space begins with a herringbone wooden floor, seamlessly leading to the kitchen corner with a curved design. This creates an immediate sense of cohesion and strength from the very first glance.
Before the renovation, the kitchen was enclosed within a narrow hallway, completely isolated from the apartment’s living areas. The architect removed the dividing wall and restructured the entire layout, transforming the kitchen into the heart of the home. The kitchen and dining area now serve as the central hub, connecting various spaces and allowing colors and light to flow freely.
A small bedroom in the original layout has been transformed into a versatile room. Unlike the previous fixed and separated design, this space now adapts to the family’s daily rhythm. It functions as a mini library, a morning workspace, an afternoon knitting and reading area for the mother, and an evening storytelling corner for mother and child.
The master bedroom has been expanded, creating a more spacious and cohesive feel. The architect redesigned the entire cabinetry, bed, and desk setup with a dominant wood tone, complemented by beige walls behind the headboard. This combination fosters a warm and serene atmosphere for the homeowners.
The master bathroom, adjacent to the bedroom, showcases a clever use of color. The interplay between earthy yellow and white tones creates a vibrant yet harmonious space, embodying the Mid-Century Modern spirit.
