North Ninh Urgently Directs Development of World-Class 5-Star Airport

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province emphasized the critical importance of land clearance in the implementation of the Gia Binh International Airport project and its associated initiatives. He urged all involved units to adhere strictly to the set timelines and objectives to ensure the project's success.

On November 23, the Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee inspected the progress of the Gia Binh International Airport construction project and related initiatives.

For the Gia Binh International Airport project, functional agencies and local authorities have registered 6,694 out of 7,980 households and individuals, covering approximately 818 hectares of agricultural land (rice fields). Over 2.405 trillion VND has been disbursed to 4,825 households for 533.6 hectares in Luong Tai, Gia Binh, and Nhan Thang communes.

Additionally, around 7,500 graves have been registered and surveyed. Units have begun registering and surveying residential land areas…

Regarding projects related to Gia Binh International Airport, relevant departments, agencies, and localities are implementing resettlement projects; developing urban zoning plans; and detailing 1/500 scale plans for the Dai Lai cemetery park, resettlement areas, and cemetery parks in Trung Chinh and Luong Tai communes, as well as a resettlement area in Gia Binh commune…

For the road connecting Gia Binh Airport to Hanoi (passing through Bac Ninh province), the Department of Construction has identified the road’s impact on affected communes and wards; introduced resettlement locations; and agreed on cemetery expansion and improvement sites…

Land clearance units are collaborating with local authorities to conduct surveys, measurements, and verifications of land areas and origins requiring acquisition for the project…

Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, Pham Hoang Son, directed units to maintain focus, classify, and clarify land origins; ensure transparency and protect citizens’ legitimate rights to foster consensus. This will expedite the completion of agricultural land areas, aligning with investment timelines for key components of the Gia Binh International Airport project, connecting roads, and related initiatives.

Investors are urged to collaborate closely with departments, agencies, and localities to finalize land clearance documents, demarcate project boundaries, and proactively propose solutions to accelerate progress.

He emphasized that land clearance is critical to the successful implementation of the Gia Binh International Airport project and related initiatives. Therefore, all units and localities must coordinate closely, enhance accountability, and commit to meeting deadlines and objectives.

On November 14, the Government submitted the investment proposal for Gia Binh Airport to the National Assembly. According to the environmental impact assessment report released by Masterise Group in November 2025, the airport will utilize nearly 1,885 hectares across Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Lam Thao, and Nhan Thang communes.

The total investment is projected at 196.378 trillion VND across two phases, with phase one requiring 141.236 trillion VND. Gia Binh International Airport will meet 4F standards, serving 30 million passengers and 1.6 million tons of cargo by 2030. By 2050, capacity will increase to 50 million passengers and 2.5 million tons of cargo annually.

The airport aims to achieve a 5-star international service rating, ranking among the world’s top 10 airports according to Skytrax criteria. It will also excel in passenger experience (ASQ) as evaluated by the Airport Council International (ACI). The facility is envisioned as the Northern region’s aviation gateway, a hub for passenger and cargo transit, and a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) center for the Asia-Pacific region.
