In early October, the Hanoi People’s Committee inaugurated the Pearl Opera House and Thematic Arts Park project at Dam Tri Lake, Tay Ho District.
This cultural and artistic complex boasts an investment of over VND 12,756 billion, spanning approximately 191,000 m². It occupies a prime location in the heart of Quang An Peninsula, surrounded by West Lake on three sides.
Designed as a hub for major cultural and political events in the capital, the structure features a dome inspired by West Lake’s ripples. Its ultra-thin, high-strength framework is coated with a nacre-like material, reflecting the lake’s hues that shift with the day’s light—Image: Developer.
One month into construction, Dam Tri Lake has been entirely reclaimed for Phase 1. Initial elements are taking shape, with workers and machinery focusing on the foundation and basement levels.
The reinforced steel foundation is nearing completion.
The site borders Dang Thai Mai Street to the east and southeast, overlooks West Lake to the west, adjoins a residential area to the northwest, and faces a planned road connecting Dang Thai Mai and Quang Ba to the north.
Alongside the main construction, nearby water bodies such as Pho Linh Pagoda’s lotus pond and Thuy Su Lake will be revitalized, cleaned, and enhanced with additional West Lake lotus plants to harmonize with the future arts park.
The project unfolds in two phases from Q1 2025 to Q3 2029. Phase 1 focuses on the Pearl Opera House, while Phase 2 will develop the surrounding Thematic Arts Park.
Viewed from Thuy Khue Street, the Pearl Opera House construction site stands prominently against West Lake’s expansive backdrop, poised to become Hanoi’s newest architectural landmark.
Upon completion, the opera house will be a state-of-the-art, versatile venue meeting international standards for major cultural and political events, significantly enhancing Hanoi’s cultural landscape.
