Stores big and small, shopping malls, and supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City are buzzing with Black Friday promotions, offering discounts of up to 80% on products and goods. However, this Black Friday feels uniquely special for both buyers and sellers alike.
Buyers aren’t just hunting for deals for themselves as usual, and sellers aren’t slashing prices solely to boost sales and profits. Instead, without any prompting, sellers are offering deep discounts and even throwing in extra items when buyers mention they’re purchasing goods to send to flood-affected communities in Central Vietnam.
For instance, Ha Phuong, a bank employee from Do Xuan Hop Street in Phuoc Long Ward, shared her experience. She managed to purchase 20 sets of children’s clothing (sized 5-7 years) at a 60% discount from a reputable children’s fashion brand, intended as gifts for children in flood-stricken Phu Yen. The store’s usual Black Friday discount ranged from 15% to 45%, but the owner offered an additional 20% upon learning the purpose of her purchase.
Black Friday is an annual highlight for Ho Chi Minh City shoppers, offering a chance to snag premium brands at bargain prices.
Initially planning to buy 15 sets, Ha Phuong ended up with 25 sets. The store owner not only provided the additional discount but also included 5 extra sets as a contribution. Overwhelmed by the generosity, Ha Phuong was moved to tears upon receiving the package.
International fashion brands are offering discounts of up to 70-80% during this Black Friday week.
Ha Phuong mentioned that she and her friends usually shop for clothing, shoes, and electronics during the annual sales. This year, however, they’re pooling their resources—donating clothes, shoes, kitchenware, and school bags—to deliver to flood-affected areas next weekend.
Similarly, Nhu Van’s group of friends from Phu Yen, based in Thu Duc Ward, is also shopping for essentials like detergent, shampoo, baby diapers, and kitchen utensils. With nearly 150 million VND in donations, they’re focusing on high-discount items during Black Friday to maximize their impact.
“We’re not just looking for cheap items but aiming for quality products at reasonable prices to provide more essentials for those in need,” Van explained.
Ngoc Ha, owner of a grocery store on Ngo Quyen Street in Tang Nhon Phu Ward, shared that while she doesn’t typically offer discounts, she’s been selling bottled water, sanitary pads, and baby diapers at cost to support flood relief efforts. For every purchase over 1 million VND, she’s also donating a case of water.
Local fashion and accessory brands are also offering significant discounts on most of their products during this period.
Across Ho Chi Minh City, businesses large and small are sharing their profits to support those affected by the historic floods. Vania Fashion on Ly Chinh Thang Street is donating all proceeds from its Black Friday sales (November 22-30) to flood victims and is also collecting white ao dai donations for students in affected areas, offering a 100,000 VND voucher for each donated outfit.
A furniture store on Do Xuan Hop Street is selling blankets at a flat rate of 200,000 VND and offering 50% off mattress covers and pillow inserts from November 22-30. Customers purchasing blankets receive a free pillowcase, resulting in 300 blanket sales in just the first two days, most of which are intended as donations.
Explosive Promotions
Since November 20, the Black Friday spirit has been palpable at Ho Chi Minh City’s shopping centers. At Thiso Mall Sala, brands like Gustavogano, Pucini, Adidas, and ALDO are offering discounts of up to 50-70% until November 30. Additional promotions include 10% off for two items and 20% off for three.
Black Friday coincides with Ho Chi Minh City’s City Sale, amplifying the festive shopping atmosphere.
At Vincom Thao Dien, major brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Lemino, Valentino, Sisley, and Levis are offering 70-80% discounts from November 24-30. Uniqlo’s Thank You Week (November 21-27) features special prices on daily wear and winter clothing.
Local brands such as Canifa, Vascara, Magonn, G2000, and An Phuoc are also participating with 30-50% discounts across most products until the end of November.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, this period features numerous promotions and incentives for the year’s biggest shopping season. Coinciding with Black Friday is the second phase of the City Sale, running from mid-November to January 4, 2026, across e-commerce platforms and physical stores, featuring over 500 domestic and international brands with discounts of up to 80%.
Following the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee’s call for donations, residents’ shopping carts now include instant noodles, milk, canned goods, drinks, and detergents for flood-affected communities.
Beyond traditional shopping hubs, promotions are also available at new locations like Saigon Marina IFC, WTC Expo Binh Duong, Ben Thanh Metro Station, and Audora Conference Center in Vung Tau, featuring over 500 brands across cosmetics, fashion, accessories, and household goods.
