The Quang Ninh Riverside Road Project spans over 40 km, featuring dual parallel lanes with three lanes in each direction. The median strip, exceeding 40 meters in width, is reserved for future expansion and development. The route includes 13 river bridges, 10 at-grade intersections, 3 pedestrian underpasses, and a comprehensive lighting and traffic safety system.

With a total investment of nearly VND 6.4 trillion, the project is poised to become a key driver of development for Quang Ninh’s western region, establishing a direct connection from the Ha Long – Hai Phong Expressway to local areas.

The route traverses a geologically complex area characterized by numerous swamps and rivers, while facing a scarcity of essential materials like soil and sand for construction. Prolonged efforts to stabilize weak soil foundations have significantly delayed the project’s progress, despite over three years of implementation.

According to the Quang Ninh Provincial Portal, the Division of Project Management for Zone II Investment and Construction is executing a 60-day accelerated campaign to boost progress. Goals include completing the K95 road embankment, treating weak soil with cement-reinforced soil piles in package 8, clearing 20.03 km of the K95 foundation, finalizing weak soil treatment in package 9, and ensuring disbursements exceed VND 1 trillion during this intensive phase.

To ensure timely completion of critical components, the project owner has stationed a 24/7 on-site task force for direct supervision and progress monitoring. Contractors have significantly increased manpower and equipment, including excavators, rollers, graders, asphalt pavers, crane beam installers, and mixing plants, to maintain continuous three-shift operations daily.

Specifically, Truong Son 2 Contractor (Corps 12, Ministry of Defense) has doubled its committed capacity, deploying additional personnel and machinery to execute three shifts across four teams as planned. They have also partnered with material suppliers to ensure adequate stockpiling according to each phase’s schedule, preventing supply disruptions and maintaining uninterrupted construction.

Other contractors are proactively securing financial resources, machinery, equipment, and materials to expedite progress and complete their assigned components as scheduled.

By late 2025, the Riverside Road Project aims to disburse VND 1 trillion and complete 33 km of asphalt surfacing on the parallel road.
