On November 27th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a letter of commendation to the Lai Chau Provincial Police, praising their exceptional achievements in combating high-tech crime.

Previously, through the establishment of a specialized case and the synchronized implementation of operational measures, the Lai Chau Provincial Police successfully dismantled a large-scale online fraud ring. Authorities arrested and prosecuted 64 individuals, including masterminds and ringleaders, identifying approximately 8,000 victims and recovering over 300 billion VND in stolen assets.

In the commendation letter, the Prime Minister praised this achievement as a testament to the ingenuity and professionalism of the People’s Public Security forces, particularly the Lai Chau Provincial Police. This victory holds special significance, occurring immediately after the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi, reinforcing the integrity of the law and the protection of citizens’ assets.

In line with the Prime Minister’s directive to enhance vigilance, the Lai Chau Provincial Police urge citizens to refrain from engaging with any individual claiming to be from the police, prosecution, or court via phone. Do not transfer money under the guise of “asset verification” or “investigative purposes.” Remain alert to threatening calls impersonating government agencies. Report any suspicious activity immediately to the nearest police station.
