Several Honda motorcycle models are experiencing significant price increases in Hanoi. At authorized Honda dealerships (HEAD), most popular gasoline-powered bikes are being sold at prices significantly higher than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

For instance, one authorized Honda dealer is offering the Vision Sport ABS version for 37.8 million VND. The standard version is priced above 33 million VND. In contrast, Honda’s suggested retail price for this model ranges from 31 million to 36 million VND, which is approximately 1.8 million to over 2 million VND lower. At another dealership in Thanh Xuan district, the Honda Vision Sport is also listed at 38 million VND.
The “national” scooter, Honda Lead, shows a similar price gap. Dealerships are quoting a minimum price of 42 million VND for this model. The premium version reaches over 46 million VND. Honda’s suggested retail price for the Lead ranges from 39.5 million to 45 million VND, meaning buyers are paying an additional 1 million to over 2 million VND.
The Honda Air Blade has an even more significant price difference, with the 125cc ABS version priced at 57.5 million VND (compared to the listed price of 47.8 million VND). Other variants, such as the top-tier 160cc model, are sold for 64 million VND. The base Air Blade 160 starts at 61 million VND, reflecting a markup of 5 to 6 million VND.

Meanwhile, the Honda SH Mode 125cc is currently priced between 59 million and 67 million VND across its variants, which is 2 million to 4 million VND higher than the suggested retail price.
Notably, among the gasoline-powered motorcycles available in the market, only Honda models are experiencing price increases, while other brands are offering various promotions to attract buyers.
In reality, during peak shopping seasons, it’s not uncommon for popular Honda scooter models to have price markups of up to tens of millions of VND. Honda representatives have repeatedly stated that they only provide reference prices, as HEADs are independent business entities. However, given the current pressures on gasoline-powered motorcycles, the price inflation of Honda models still comes as a surprise to many.
Sales of VAMM member motorcycle models are showing signs of stagnation.
The most significant pressure currently comes from the rapid rise of electric motorcycles. Hanoi has a clear roadmap to restrict gasoline-powered vehicles. The city plans to pilot a ban on gasoline motorcycles in the inner city from July 1, 2026. This move creates substantial pressure for vehicle conversion, prompting residents to consider purchasing cost-effective electric bikes instead of gasoline ones.
Electric motorcycle manufacturers are also capitalizing on this advantage. VinFast, for example, offers various incentives, such as registration fee support, free charging, and lucky draw programs when purchasing a vehicle.
Data released by VinFast shows that the number of electric motorcycles and electric bicycles delivered in Q2 was 69,580 units, a 55% increase from the previous quarter and a 432% rise compared to the same period in 2024. In the first six months of 2025, the company delivered a total of 114,484 electric motorcycles and electric bicycles, reflecting an impressive 447% growth compared to the same period in 2024.
VinFast electric motorcycle sales are surging.
While Honda has introduced electric models, their primary focus remains on gasoline-powered motorcycles.

Additionally, he emphasized the need for solutions to issue land-use right certificates (sổ đỏ) for apartments built in violation of height limits or without proper permits, ensuring the legitimate rights of residents are protected.
