Vietjet, a leading Vietnamese airline, has announced its compliance with the latest directives from Airbus, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAV). The airline is implementing mandatory software and hardware updates for its Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft fleet. These updates are crucial to ensure operational safety and minimize flight disruptions, as per the Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) effective from 23:59 UTC on November 29, 2025 (06:59 Vietnam time on November 30, 2025).

As of the morning of November 29, 2025, Vietjet has successfully updated 45 out of 69 affected aircraft. The airline assures that flight operations on November 29 and beyond will proceed as scheduled, with no impact on passenger travel plans.

Upon receiving the directive, Vietjet swiftly activated its technical response plan, mobilizing maintenance teams across its facilities in Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang, and overseas locations to execute the updates.

By the morning of November 29, 2025, Vietjet had completed updates on 45 of the 69 affected aircraft. The airline is accelerating efforts to ensure the entire fleet meets the technical requirements within the stipulated timeframe set by the authorities and Airbus.

Vietjet confirms that flight operations on November 29 and from November 30 onward will remain unaffected, ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers.

On November 28, 2025, at 23:00 local time (16:00 UTC), Airbus issued an urgent Alert Operator Transmission (AOT). Simultaneously, EASA released EAD 2025-0268-E, mandating airlines worldwide operating Airbus A319, A320, and A321 models to replace equipment or update the ELAC (Elevator Aileron Computer) software, which controls altitude and flight direction. The directive must be implemented before the first flight after 23:59 UTC on November 29, 2025 (06:59 Vietnam time on November 30, 2025).

Late on November 28, the CAAV convened an emergency meeting with Vietnamese airlines to address the directive. As of 05:30 on November 29, 2025, 81 out of 169 A320/A321 aircraft across Vietnamese airlines were identified as affected.

The CAAV issued an official telegram on November 29, 2025, instructing Vietnamese airlines to promptly comply with EAD 2025-0268-E. Airlines are to review their flight schedules, minimize passenger impact, and provide timely updates on flight changes. Passengers are entitled to free itinerary adjustments due to cancellations or delays, and airlines must fulfill their obligations in case of disruptions. Collaboration and resource sharing among airlines are encouraged to ensure the directive’s timely implementation.

Vietnam Airlines has promptly initiated the update process at its technical facilities in Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat. The updates began on the night of November 28 and early morning of November 29, with an estimated completion time of one hour per aircraft. Vietnam Airlines is confident in completing all updates ahead of schedule, ensuring normal flight operations on November 29 and beyond.

Bamboo Airways reported that after thorough inspections, none of its A320/A321 aircraft are affected by the directive. Consequently, all flights will operate as scheduled without disruption.
