Samsung Vietnam Appoints First Vietnamese Executive to Senior Leadership Role

On December 1, Samsung Vietnam announced the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang to the senior leadership team, assuming the role of Deputy General Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT).

This marks the first time a Vietnamese national has held the position of Deputy General Director at a Samsung manufacturing entity in Vietnam. Additionally, Mr. Giang becomes the first local executive across Samsung Electronics’ global system to be appointed as Deputy General Director in the smartphone manufacturing division.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang is highly regarded for his professional expertise, management skills, and strategic thinking. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to process innovation, quality enhancement, and production efficiency optimization. Moving forward, he will oversee operations at both Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT).

Mr. Na Ki Hong, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, stated: “The appointment of a local executive as Deputy General Director at Samsung’s global smartphone manufacturing unit is a significant milestone. This reflects the maturity and exceptional capabilities of the workforce at Samsung’s Vietnamese factories.”

– 2010: Joined Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV)

– 2013 – 2014: Director of Smartphone Production Department, SEV

– 2015 – Present: Director of Component Production Department; Director of Product Color Technology Department, SEVT

According to the audited Q2/2025 financial report, Samsung Thai Nguyen (SEVT) achieved revenue of 19.677 trillion won (14.47 billion USD), a 6% increase, with profits reaching 1.2 trillion won (882 million USD).

SEVT is Samsung’s largest facility in Vietnam. Not only is it the highest revenue and profit-generating site for Samsung in Vietnam, but it also ranks third globally, following two Samsung plants in the United States.

Samsung established its presence in Vietnam in 1995 with a TV manufacturing plant. In 2008, Samsung received an investment certificate for a major project in Bac Ninh, with an initial capital of 670 million USD.

In 2009, the first mobile phone factory (SEV) commenced operations. Since 2010, Samsung has continued to expand its investments and is now one of the largest foreign investors in Vietnam. As of the end of 2024, Samsung’s total investment in Vietnam stands at 23.2 billion USD.
