Porsche Vehicles in Russia Mysteriously Immobilized

On Monday, December 1st, hundreds of Porsche owners across Russia awoke to find their prized German vehicles transformed into immobile bricks on wheels. Reports suggest that Porsche’s Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) may be the culprit behind this widespread issue.

Whether caused by a faulty software update or deliberate third-party interference, the result is the same. From Moscow to Krasnodar, drivers found themselves stranded with non-responsive vehicles.

The malfunction affects Porsche models produced since 2013, all equipped with the VTS. If the VTS loses satellite signal, it automatically triggers a hard engine lock, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Yulia Trushkova, service director at Rolf Group (Russia’s largest car dealership), told the Daily Mail that “all models and all engine types” were affected, with dealerships receiving a flood of identical complaints.

Speculation has spread domestically. The Moscow Times quoted a dealership representative as saying, “It could have been done intentionally.” Notably, they also acknowledged that there is currently no direct evidence supporting this theory.

Porsche’s Russian branch has declined to comment, and the company’s global headquarters has yet to issue a statement on the situation.

Mechanics tasked with diagnosing the seemingly normal yet non-starting vehicles remain stumped. Owners report the issue occurring suddenly and without warning.

Others claim their cars shut down just minutes after starting. Some have even removed alarm system connectors in desperate attempts to disable the issue entirely. A few report successfully starting their vehicles after disconnecting the battery for at least ten hours.

Porsche halted new car deliveries to Russia following the Ukraine conflict, but the brand’s vehicles remain widely distributed among the country’s affluent clientele.

Now, these owners are crowding service centers and tow yards, convinced their vehicles have lost satellite signals or fallen victim to something more deliberate. Currently, no guaranteed fix exists, and the number of immobilized Porsches continues to rise nationwide.
