Rushing to ‘Beat the Sun, Outpace the Rain’ in the Construction of Long Thanh Airport

On December 19th, Long Thanh International Airport will welcome its inaugural flight. In recent days, nearly 14,000 experts, engineers, workers, and laborers, alongside over 3,000 construction machines, have been tirelessly accelerating progress on the site.

At the Long Thanh Airport project site, thousands of officials, engineers, and workers are accelerating construction to ensure completion in time for the first technical flight on December 19th.

According to Tien Phong’s report, Long Thanh Airport is rushing construction on multiple components of Package 3 (essential airport facilities, Phase 1).

Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the project investor, reports that to execute 12 packages, contractors are mobilizing nearly 14,000 specialists, engineers, workers, and over 3,000 construction equipment units, operating hundreds of work fronts to expedite progress.

At Package 5.10, constructing the Long Thanh Airport passenger terminal, work is intensely underway. This is the most critical package of the entire project, likened to the heart of Long Thanh Airport.

Inside the passenger terminal, workers are installing escalators, elevators, staircases, and fire prevention systems.

Package 5.10 (passenger terminal) has allocated 4,914 personnel and over 1,000 pieces of equipment.

The airport’s fuel storage area is also under accelerated construction.

Long Thanh Airport, located in Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province, spans over 5,000 hectares. The total investment is estimated at over $16 billion, divided into three phases. Phase 1 costs over $5.4 billion, with a capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually.
