Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc has issued a directive to relevant departments, agencies, and localities regarding the efficient use of land. The directive ensures alignment with the city’s scope, characteristics post-reorganization, and the two-tier local government model.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to relocate inner-city manufacturing facilities while prioritizing the construction of public and social welfare projects.
Accordingly, the Chairman has directed that during the planning and appraisal of Ho Chi Minh City’s 2021-2030 master plan, with a vision to 2050, and the 2040 general plan, with a vision to 2060, a review and assessment of land funds for manufacturing facilities within the inner city must be conducted. This aims to propose suitable urban planning functions for relocation.
The objective is to ensure the effective use of land post-relocation, prioritizing the construction of public and social welfare projects to support the city’s sustainable urban development.
Previously, the Chairman also approved the Department of Planning and Architecture’s proposal to halt further research and development of the project titled “Continuation of the Plan and Roadmap for Relocating Industrial Facilities Outside the Inner City to Effectively Utilize Post-Relocation Land for Public and Social Welfare Projects” in the current phase.
The Department of Planning and Architecture advised that researching and developing the project in the current phase is no longer a pressing need.
