Two major construction packages have been launched: the construction and equipment installation package for the Air Traffic Control Tower and auxiliary facilities, and the DVOR/DME Radio Navigation Station package in Ca Mau.
The total investment for the project is nearly 260 billion VND. The Air Traffic Control Tower and its auxiliary facilities account for over 180 billion VND, while the DVOR/DME station investment totals 77 billion VND.
Officials participate in the groundbreaking ceremony.
During the ceremony, contractors pledged to mobilize resources, machinery, and workforce to immediately commence construction, ensuring timely completion and high-quality standards for the Ca Mau Airport’s operational launch.
Mr. Huỳnh Chí Nguyện, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized the project’s critical role in ensuring aviation safety and supporting the expansion and upgrade of Ca Mau Airport.
“The commencement of these two projects demonstrates strategic vision and strong commitment from all levels and sectors to elevate Ca Mau Airport to new heights,” stated Mr. Nguyện.
To ensure project success, Mr. Nguyện urged the investor and contractors to uphold responsibility, implement scientific and rigorous construction practices, and strictly adhere to technical, labor safety, aviation safety, and environmental protection standards. The province pledged full support to address challenges and ensure smooth project execution.
Approved by the Prime Minister in October 2024, the Ca Mau Airport expansion and upgrade project aims to extend the runway, add aircraft parking stands, and expand the terminal to accommodate A320/321 aircraft and equivalents. With a total investment of approximately 2.4 trillion VND, land clearance for the project is now 100% complete, with compensation totaling over 577 billion VND.
