After nearly six years of stagnation, Section 3 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 (from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua Intersection) is finally showing signs of revival. Land clearance efforts are currently in full swing.
Spanning approximately 2.7 kilometers, this section of the Ring Road 2 from Pham Van Dong Street to Go Dua Intersection commenced construction in 2017 with a total investment of over 2.7 trillion VND.
According to Tien Phong’s report, over the past month, the project site has been actively cleared by the contractor in preparation for the resumption of construction.
Numerous machines and vehicles have been mobilized to remove debris and level the ground.
The resumption of this long-stalled project is a welcome development for residents along the route and a positive signal for a key infrastructure initiative that has been delayed for far too long.
Construction began in 2017 but was halted in mid-2020 with only 44% completion. One of the primary reasons for the delay was the unresolved land compensation issues with investors.
On-site, overgrown vegetation covers the road foundations, bridge piers, and unfinished structures, with many concrete sections and steel frameworks exposed to the elements for extended periods.
A 300-meter stretch from Tam Binh Street toward Pham Van Dong Street has been cleared, revealing the route and reigniting construction activities.
In several sections through Tam Binh Ward, the contractor has cleared the land and removed vegetation to officially restart the project after a prolonged hiatus.
The resumption of construction and the resolution of procedural hurdles demonstrate the tangible effectiveness of the government’s resolution, coupled with the strong leadership of Ho Chi Minh City and the investor’s efforts.
Section 3 of the Ring Road 2 will resume construction on December 19, 2025, under the Build-Transfer (BT) model. The project is scheduled to begin in December 2025 and is expected to be completed by April 30, 2027.
