To date, the joint ventures have mobilized nearly 15,000 specialists, engineers, and workers, along with over 3,000 pieces of equipment and machinery, deploying hundreds of work fronts. Their goal is to successfully conduct the first technical flight on December 19, 2025, as directed by the Prime Minister. The ultimate objective is to have Long Thanh Airport operational and commercially ready by June 2026.
The entire project comprises 15 packages, with 3 completed and 12 under construction. Currently, the total executed value stands at approximately 57,888 out of 86,357 billion VND, equivalent to 67% of the signed contract value.
The three completed packages include: the boundary fence within the 1,810-hectare port area, land leveling and drainage, and the construction of passenger terminal piles, laying the groundwork for subsequent key components.
Connection Road No. 1 has been technically opened, and Road No. 2 has completed its asphalt concrete paving. Traffic safety features, lighting, and landscaping are being finalized, with expected completion in February 2026.

At Component 4, the delegation inspected the maintenance hangars of VAECO and Vietjet. Minister Tran Hong Minh urged the units to continue accelerating, working continuously in “3 shifts, 4 teams,” maximizing time, manpower, and equipment to expedite progress, while ensuring quality is never compromised.
The Minister of Construction emphasized that all components must be completed by June 2026 to prepare for the airport’s operations as planned. He also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and order throughout the construction process.
Subsequently, at Component 3, the delegation inspected the fuel storage area at the apron in front of the terminal and surveyed the overall passenger terminal of Long Thanh Airport.
Here, the Minister of Construction acknowledged and praised the efforts of the investor, consultant, and contractors in adhering to the schedule and implementing scientific, methodical construction practices. However, he urged the units to remain vigilant, maintain high and synchronized construction rhythms, ensuring technical, architectural, and landscape uniformity.
The Minister emphasized that, at this stage, the Long Thanh Airport site must not only be fast but also beautiful, green, and clean. Each completed component must meet quality, technical, and aesthetic standards, befitting a modern, environmentally friendly international airport, and achieving a 5-star rating upon operation.
Regarding the connecting transportation system, the Minister noted that alongside completing in-airport components, special attention must be given to the external transportation network to ensure smooth and seamless connectivity.

The Long Thanh Airport project is divided into three phases, with a total investment of over $16 billion USD. Phase 1, expected to be operational by 2026, has an investment of $5.45 billion USD and will handle 25 million passengers annually. Upon completion, the entire airport will reach 4F level, featuring 4 runways and 4 passenger terminals, with a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year. Currently, it is Vietnam’s largest airport and is poised to become a significant regional hub.
In a 2022 media interview, ACV leadership expressed their vision for Long Thanh Airport: “Our aspiration is for it to become a major regional transit hub, competing with leading airports like Singapore’s Changi and Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi.”
